Exam/Assessment Solutions

Is anyone using another solution for assessments/exams in the learning module? We're looking for possible solutions for needs that the LMS does not meet with the current assessment options.

Hi,

I have looked into different exam/quizzing tools. They are usually a bit more elegant and provide more flexibility on the user experience.

However, with time, I am now enforcing to use only the built-in exam tool. This is mainly due to reporting and technical issues we had in time. The scorm2004 reporting on exam never gave what we needed, and I prefer also to publish eLearning material in SCORM1.2, as the 2004 has this duplicate navigation (even though you can tweak the code to remove it).

In the end, here is my advise:

1. all scorm course content in scorm1.2, no built-in exam. Completion is based on page views. If there are knowledge check etc, that fine. But not counting for the course pass grade 
2. all exam quizzes are done in LMS. 
3. completion is either on all content objects, or only on the exam (this is a limitation of the LMS)

This has made is much easier to manage, and provides a rather consistent user experience.
