Error while publishing a Simulation Enable Now

Hi -

The training team is having a strange issue...we are able to publish the first couple of times (Demo & Practice modes) without any issues. But after that, every time we publish, we get the following error - anyone know why?

Hi Nandita,

I think Dirk already mentioned all the possible reasons and mitigations for this issue. This behaviour is not normal and should be handled by support like he mentioned so please open an incident with the component KM-WPB-PRO.

To me it sounds like something keeps using the file when you try to publish it. I'm sure the file is closed.

Take care,

Kristina

Noooo, duplicating is not a good idea as the links will change every time. I can't think of a way that would be happening (authorizations all OK? synchronizations all OK?). Definitely open a ticket - and post back here what they find out. Now I'm intrigued!

Will do. Thanks for the help. I am curious as well. Glad I posted here!

Hmm, that is odd. Never seen that. Strange that it goes wrong after you play it. That is a read-only operation - except for if you are tracking, but even that shouldn't lock out the object itself. Well I'm out of ideas (sorry); suggest you open an Incident. (This happens for all simulations, right? Not just this one?))

correct...all simulations and for all 3 training team members. I guess once they publish once, and play, if they have to make changes, they need to duplicate, make changes, then publish! oof! We may have to open a ticket for this one! Strange issue or something I am not seeing!

No, no screenshot attached to your post. But OK, sounds like a Windows write conflict. Typically, a display of the simulation shouldn't cause that, so maybe something going on in the background, or something with the Manager <-> Producer synchronization.

After making your changes, save to server, check in, then synchronize, then set to Published (shouldn't be necessary, but...). Alternative, when you Finish Editing, select the Create New Version checkbox, just in case it is something to do with that. Just trying to think of workarounds that may help, or narrow down the problem.

All you are doing is setting the Published flag, right? And I assume after a while (lie 10+ minutes) it starts working again? Or never again for the same simulation - which would be a much bigger problem. What if you save/finish editing in Producer then Publish from Manager?

Ok, so I saved to cloud, forced new version, synched and got back in....same error. But I created a duplicate and now I am able to publish the duplicated file! And...I can continue to publish it until I play the Demo or practice mode. As soon as I play it, then I try and publish again, I get the same error! Never seen this before!

What's the error? Are you cloud or publishing locally? And is this repeated publishes of the same simulation?

Hi Dirk - I added a screen shot, did it not come through? The error is:

Error while copying files [0x00000020] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Yes, Enable Now Cloud edition, publishing locally. And yes, repeated publishes of the same simulation after a few small edits.
