Enabling story board reporting

Hi All

We are trying to implement story board reporting in SF however we read that story boards requires IAS enablement as prerequisite. We already have azure authentication and SSO. Why do we need IAS for story board only? what is the link between IAS & story boards? Can anyone shed some light on this?

I'm not an expert on this as someone else in our team is responsible for this but I know it is a must and not optional.  I understand that the direction is towards IAS so it will become unavoidable.
