Enable Now Simulations always starting in Practice mode via Companion

Hi I am trying to change the sim mode which plays when I link the sim to S/4HANA in Companion. I just have the individual sim listed on the side bar. So a user clicks the link and its all working correctly but I can't find a way to change the mode that play. Its currently always playing Practice mode and I want it to lay demo mode. I have tried hiding the Practice mode in Producer but it keeps playing Practice mode.

If you could advise.

Many thanks

David

Hi David,

I don't think Concurrent mode works that way anymore. It used to work when playback was in Internet Explorer but I don't think that Chrome or Edge support that capability.

Thanks Shane & Dirk for confirming as it was on the page you sent (please see on screenshot).

Which mode is set by default to play from companion, is it Demo?

Hi David,

No, Practice mode is set to display by default. If you want Demo mode to play, set learningAppProjectMode=demo. Note that the parameter details are case sensitive so must be entered exactly as listed above.

Default is uebung (which is German for practice - strictly, übung). That's why it's in bold in the 'specified as' section of that screenshot (apparently not such a common convention as I thought...).

I don't understand why Practice is the default for in-app help as it's not the most helpful if they have to perform the actions in the simulation AND in the real system. I tend to use Concurrent for reasons I list above. Given that it is now never in a floating panel now, using a simulation for help is most effective when you have two screens (or a very wide one you can fit both the system and the playback in...).

If it is just you, consider installing Microsoft PowerToys (see here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/) and then use AlwaysOnTop, but I doubt you'll get it rolled out to every user in your corp.

You need to set the learningAppProjectMode parameter. See here: https://enablenowexpert.com/wiki/index.php/LearningAppProjectMode

Thanks Dirk. When I launch Concurrent mode it does not open any differently to the Demo mode. It states it will open in a smaller browser window on top of the App, however it just opens another tab, in the same way as all other modes. Will it only open in the new smaller window once I launch via Companion (assuming I have changed the parameter to Concurrent)?

Thanks

David

Shane is correct, and it doesn't work that way any more in SAP Companion. SAP Companion for Desktop I believe it does, but I'd have to test. But hey, at least you can launch Concurrent mode now, which was the original question...
