Enable Background Elements in SAP Onboarding 2.0 (Enhancement ID: 344613)

Dear SAP Community,

I’d like to bring attention to a significant enhancement request that impacts many SAP SuccessFactors customers across industries and geographies.

Current Limitation:

As of today, Background Elements such as:

• Education
• Work Experience
• Certifications
• Languages, etc.

are not supported in SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding 2.0. This limitation means such critical data cannot be captured during the onboarding process and does not flow automatically into Employee Central post-hire.

Why This Matters:

This gap creates operational inefficiencies and potential compliance risks. Without Background Elements support in Onboarding:

• HR teams must manually collect and re-enter data into EC
• Employees often have to duplicate data entry post-hire
• Incomplete profiles hinder downstream processes like Learning, Talent, and Analytics
• Organizations face challenges in maintaining data integrity and audit readiness

Proposed Enhancement (ID: 344613):

The enhancement proposes that SAP:

1.Enable support for Background Elements in the Onboarding 2.0 process

2.Allow seamless integration of that data into Employee Central upon hire

This would ensure a complete and accurate employee profile from Day 1, streamline data flow, and reduce manual intervention.

The data collected in background elements in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting can be syncronized directly to the employee profile, potentially eliminating the need to pass it through Onboarding. The actual problem here is flow of documents supporting the education, work experience, certification etc... As only data flows from RCM to EC. Even if documents were collected in RCM. They have to be collected again background elements when the candidate becomes a employee.
