Hello community!

I´m going to need your expertice and knowledge to solve this problem that I have, hope you can help me 🙂

We noticed that when rehiring an inactive employee with a new employment the employee id jumps/skips one number.

Reproducing the issue:

  1. We add the new hire to onboarding
  2. In the Review New Hire Data step the system automatically assigns an ID. (ex. 70020380)
  3. After the Provide Personal Data step the Onboarding Rehire Verification shows up and we rehire the inactive employee with a new employment.
  4. As we continue with the regarding steps of the data collection the system shows the ID from when the employee was active, before their termination date. (ex. 20020300)
  5. Once we finish with the hiring process, pass the employee throughout Manage Pending Hires and the hiring day arrives, the final ID of the employee skips one sequence ID (Final ID ex. 70020381) which means that the original ID number (ex. 70020380) was skipped and the sequence breaks.

I understand that this is an expected behavior since the rehire with new employment restarts the onboarding process and registers the rehire as a new record in the system.

So, Is there a way to avoid the system from skipping ID numer sequences? I need to find a workaround because it is truly important for the client to keep the sequence without missing numbers.

It is important to consider that the company doesn´t use any business rule to assign IDs, our scenario is the last one in the following table.

Thank you for the comments 🙂
