I'd like to create html work instructions from a simulation.
In the Documentation menu bar, I select Generate Single Document > Work Instruction > html.
I'd like the output to have:
- borders around the images
- 6pt leading space above each step in a numbered list
- 80% width scaling on the images (or at least consistent scaling on the images.
Where do I go to alter these please?
Notes:
Borders - I understand that I may not be able to add borders at the output stage, because the borders functionality wasn't on when we recorded the sim.
Styles - In my Word template I have set the paragraph "before" for the style List Number, and nothing changes, so I guess that's not the style the sims call on.
Scaling - really, who knows! I've tried altering image scale in various places and nothing useful happens.
Any thoughts? I'd ideally like a document or video describing where the "Generate xx" pulls its information from for each type of output.
Request clarification before answering.
Borders around the images: Make sure the Border Width property is NOT activated in the simulation, and then in Resources > Documentation Settings > Screenshots you can set the Border Width and Border Color. This will then be applied to all screenshots (that do not have the Border property activated in the simulation!) when you generate the document.
6pt leading: You'll probably have to change this in the actual Word Template (even for HTML - I believe it still publishes to Word then does a 'save as HTML'...). But you may find if you do that it affects everything (or nothing) - SAP Enable Now is a bit tricky in the styles used, and seems to use the default Normal style for everything and then apply direct formatting. And note that the numbered actions (bubble texts) aren't actually list items (with hanging indents) at all, and are just paragraphs with a number on the front.
Scaling in the documents: There's several places this can be taken from - in the simulation itself, or in the Documentation Settings under Screenshots > Scaling (although this is an additional scaling applied after the simulation-level scaling so should normally be left at 100%). The Auto-Crop settings also come into play, And on top of that, for some inexplicable reason I've never been able to figure out, images seem to get scaled to 85% in the document anyway (at least in my Letter-sized documents; maybe it is perfect on A4).
A document/video that describes everything to do with the document outputs: Not that I'm aware of. The Producer Manual may have some info, but it's likely to be super-vague. Best I have is this, which explains the Documentation Settings. I think Shane or Kristina may have done a session on customizing/branding documents at one point?

Great comments, thank you.
The comment about the bubble text not being a numbered list was really helpful. And the 85% made me laugh - I think that explains something I had seen too!
I've listened to the first five mins of Shane's recommended "branded" video and it looks like it will be on the mark.
Many thanks.
Hi Maree,
You can learn about general branding changes that can be made to documentation in the video Generating Branded Documentation using Enable Now.
You should be able to control the text styles using Resources > Adaptable Resources > Text Styles object. You will need to duplicate this object and change the relevant styles and point your Documentation Settings to this new Text Styles object.
You can change the image border width and the scaling of the screen images by:
1. Open the Simulation in Producer
2. Click on a screen image icon
3. Open the Documentation section of properties and modify the Image Size (%) and Border Width fields
4. Repeat for all other image objects in the Simulation
5. Generate the documentation.
Regards
Shane
