Hi Experts,
In E-Recruitment,for the Employee/External candidate standard roles,
In the 'Apply directly' Search using the Reference code, when no criteria is given, the search results appear correctly.
When we use the standard 'Job Search' functionality and no search criteria is given,no search results appear.
Can anyone help pl.?
Thanks,
Arpita

Hi Arpita,
To start with you'll need some data for the system to search for. e.g. A released requisition with a released posting so that its available to be found in the search pages. e.g. Internal Candidates v.s. External Candidates (as the posting type determines which search pages the entries will appear in)
Schedule the report RCF_PERIODICAL_SERVICES to generate a search profile for the released requisition. The IMG recommends 10-20mins for the frequency, but you can set it to say 2 mins for testing.
As part of the BASIS install of TREX they'll have created an RFC destination IMSDEFAULT. Perform
a connection test in SM59.
Check that a Communication User has been defined and assigned to the "sap->bc->contentserver" entry in transaction SICF. The account used should have the role SAP_RCF_CONTENT_SERVER (check this via transaction SU01). See notes on IMG step SAP E-Recruiting->Technical Settings->Search Engine->Set up Access to Documents.
In the IMG step SAP E-Recruiting->Technical Settings->Search Engine->Activate Indexing check that Index Release is set on HR_KW. I also explicitly set the search service to DRFUZZY (although this should be the default)
I'd suggest asking your BASIS team to check SAP Note 1082004 to ensure
the TREX install is complete. It contains a number of BASIS steps to enable the attributes to be extracted from the recruitment search profiles so that TREX can then find things.
Once this is done, in the IMG check:
SAP E-Recruiting->Technical Settings->Search Engine->Check Settings
(transaction SKPR07)
Enter Document Class=HR_DOC and language EN.
Click the "Diagnosis" option on the left of the toolbar and check
everything has green lights on the status report. The IMG entry for "Activate Indexing" says not to classify the document area for performance reasons, but this will give a red error line on the status report saying the document area isn't classified.
Click the "SSR monitor" option on the toolbar.
The first tab should show "Search server ID" and "Search engine" DRFUZZY marked as the default
SSR. (if not refer to SAP Note 1082004). In the RFC destinations tab DRFUZZY should have two
lines (one S (search) and one I (Index)). Both should have status ACTIVE and "CP Initialization" green lights.
On the "Index Category (Index)" tab using the search help should find an entry in the list. If not ask
BASIS to set it up. Hit enter to display the indexes for the document category. You can test the index is active and searchable by clicking the "Test Indexing" and "Test Search" buttons and checking they give an OK return status and green light. (It can be a bit awkward to select the index, but just come out of the tab and go back in if it says you need to select the index first)
Back in the front screen of transaction SKPR07 on the "Tools" tab.
Test indexing should return a value, and the "Doc selection" button should list documents.
Execute the "Re-index" class option. Next click the "Indexed documents" button in the bottom left of the "Tools" tab to check that documents have been indexed.
You can use the "Test search" option to verify that you can find documents prior
to testing the eRecruitment application search pages. Just don't use an open query
or you'll get a meaningless 2029 error code in the "Test search". If you get other errors on the test search check the help on the error message to determine what the code means. You may need to refer the errors back to your BASIS team.
Finally you need to allow time for the system to rebuild the indexes following release of a requisition. Even if you manually call RCF_PERIODICAL_SERVICES to rebuild the search profiles, it still takes some time before they become visible in the application search pages.
Hope this helps.
George

Hi George,
I am having problem with TREX configuration. We installed TREX 7.0 with SES. First time when i was configuring TREX, i created TEST_SSR as Search service relation ( SSR ) and index category is created with this SSR . There i found some errors in the documents and i deleted that index category by pressing " Delete Category" manually. After that i tried by creating many SSR's eg: SSR_TEST, TREX_SSR but index category is not creating for these SSR's. I can't see any new index categories but i can see the old one which is showing as cancelled index category "DD05.....09" in log SLG1.
So i asked basis guys to uninstall TREX and asked them to reinstall again. They even changed the RFC connection name. Then i created new SSR in the system and defaulted this SSR. But still i can see the old index category which has been deleted but not the new one.
As per your explaination, i asked BASIS team to create a new index category for me. They said that they don't have any idea to create index category. could you please suggest me how to create index category for this new SSR. Thanks
Hi George, hi everybody,
Thank you for that excellent summary of the essential TRex setting and SKPR07. I have used that and checked that all is responding fine.
Nevertheless we have a tricky problem that we have not been making any progress on, and I wonder whether any of you have come across a similar problem and have a solution:
Everything seems to function correctly with the E-Recruiting site and most of the time you can go to the "search" page, enter a keyword, do a search, get back a result. BUT OCCASIONALY, during a five or ten minute period we get no results at all. That is to say you go to the search page, don't enter any keyword, don't select anything from any of the drop down menus, just click the button and the message comes back "Search Results: 0 hits". Don't do anything special, just try again after a few minutes the search does bring back a result. Just seems like for a period of time the index is not available.
Does this ring a bell? Surely this is not "normal" behaviour?
Any comments very much appreciated.
Thanks to all
Anthony

Hi,When you use the standard 'Job Search' functionality, it use TREX to find the postings. if you can not find any postings, you can try these steps:
1. have you released your requistion and published it to internal candidates or external candidates? internal candidates can find internal postings only, and so do external candidates. After you publish a posting, you have to wait for some time to the periodic service CREATE_SP_FOR_EXT_POSTINGS and CREATE_SP_FOR_INT_POSTINGS to create search profile for external postings and internal postings.
2. If you have done the step 1, but it still doesn't work, you have to check whether your TREX have been configured correctly. you can go to T-code SKPR07 and input document class HR_DOC and test the search functionality.

Hi followed are TREX configuration steps:
For TREX server:
1. Activate the python extension handler.
2. Activate the 'xml attribute extractor extension'.
3. Activate usage of the queue server.
4.De-activate the internal check of the URL transferred via KPRO.
then create a new index category in SKPR07 for document class HR_DOC of doc area HR_KW.
More information, you can go to http://help.sap.com and navigate to Search and Classification (TREX) -> TREX Administration -> TREX Admin Tools.
hope it is helpful.
Thanks
