Custom MDF: add a new record while there is a pending approval.

Hello,

Do you know if there is any way to configure a custom portlet where we can add new requests with one workflow pending approval?
We need a custom portlet in the employee profile to request external courses approve.

This issue occurs when the user tries to insert a new record when the initial record for the object is still pending approval.
We have a custom MDF with workflow approval. But when we try to add a new record we get the following error: " This external code --- already exists. Try another." Attached is the error.

We don´t have EC.

Hi francisco_medina,

You can change the Pending data field in the custom MDF'S object definition to NO. This way you can raise, multiple requests with workflow.

Configure Object definition---- Search for your custom MDF---- Pending data field--- Change it to NO.

But note the following:

1. Now, that you already have a pending workflow, the system will not allow you to change this property. You first have to cancel all the pending workflows of this MDF before you make any changes.

2. Though you could raise multiple workflow requests with this change, the data gets saved in the object even before the workflow is actually approved. That is, let's say you raise the request and the workflow is pending for approval, but the data gets saved the moment the request is saved. If at all the workflow is rejected, you have to manually delete it from the MDF. Make sure to delete from the Manage data as well.

I suggest you to maintain one Workflow request at a time unless required otherwise.
