creating a rule that triggers a workflow when the FTE is changed

Hi Team

I have several doubts about creating a rule that triggers a workflow when the FTE is changed, for example:

- Should I enter the rule in the field -MANAGE OBJECT CONFIGURATION-POSITION-SAVE RULES or Within the field FTE in the same POSITION OBJECT? or on the contrary, should I enter it in MANAGE BUSINESS CONFIGURATION-job info- FTE field?

-What are the base object and parameters that i shoud establish when it comes to create this rule?

Kind Regards

Hi.

The answer will depend on your business's needs.

  • In the position object: if you need to trigger the WF at the object level every time the FTE changes, then the rule should be in the save rules section.
  • In business configuration: if the employee's FTE changes and someone has to approve it and maybe a user needs to be notified of the change, then your WF should be in the job info.

On the other hand, the base object should be Position (the rule is in the object) or Job Information Model (the rule is in the job info).

Hope it helps.

Regards.

Hi Samuel thanks for your reply,

as i need to trigger a workflow to warn the managers/superiors that have to approve the FTE change, i see that both of your solution proposals can trigger a workflow, so i do not really get what is the difference between both.

Could you provide me a further clarification please?

Kind Regards

Hello.

If an employee's manager has to approve the change, I think the place that fits better for your scenario will be the Job Information section. From the job information, you can verify every time the FTE changes and trigger the right WF.
