Hello!
My organization created several learning items using the "Other" item type for tasks such as reading a book or reviewing policies. I am currently testing these items by assigning them to myself. Once assigned, I cannot see a way to complete the item. Being that "Other" items do not have online content that tracks completion, or an attendance submission, how is the item shown as complete on a user's learning history?
Are there any directions we can provide our end users to explain how they can mark an item as complete once they finished reading a book, for example, so they can track their training progress?
Thank you!

I recommend that you create an Item Type and completion status to go along with the items. Other should ideally be used for OJT and is typically is associate with Classification. So for OJT, the Item Type would be OJT and the classification would be Other. For your example, POLICY could be an Item type (classification of ONLINE) and then the completion status could be POLICY ACKNOWLEDGED and POLICY NOT ACKNOWLEDGED for Books it might be something like BOOK or PERIODICAL with the completion status to match whatever you pick for the Item Type.

Dear margaretstraub,
When using the type "Other" it is recommended to be used in conjunction with Task Checklists to allow a User to act as an observer against and record a Learning Event against an Item on another User’s Learning Plan see the section Tasks.
If not used like this, the admin will need to record it, or you allow your learners to record the learning (page below - item based event).
I hope this helps!
Thank you.
Best Regards,
Karen Perez
