This seems to be unusual, when added a new employee the company drop down pick list remains blank even thou the individual has full access to the company data. I can't find where the permissions would restrict this?
If the problem still persists - Kindly check whether you have access to company data in RBP under Employee Central Effective Dated Entities and also perform metadata refresh once and try.
