Client Secret not saving in Manager

Hi,

I am trying to activate machine translation and I notice that my client secret stays initially and I save it but when I go back it's empty. I re-added it and it does the same thing.

Is there a way to keep it?

Here's a video showing exactly what to do, just in case you missed something:

Other considerations, depending on what you have tried already):

  • Make sure your Trainer Style has been updated
  • Make sure the permissions are enabled
  • Make sure the content you are translating only has one language (e.g. in a Book, all the Book Pages use the same language)
  • Make sure the language the content is originally in is a language that you can translate FROM using Translation Hub. As noted in another thread, Swiss German is not one of these. British English is not, either (See here: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_TRANSLATION_HUB/ed6ce7a29bdd42169f5f0d7868bce6eb/6c3c36be001949e889c17....

You don't need to specify credentials any more (as of 2305), as mentioned by others, as SAP Translation Hub is effectively bundle free. However, if you do want to maintain your own paid subscription (e.g. because you want to monitor usage, and you don't get usage reports with the free version) you can do so - and don't worry about the Client Secret being blanked out - it is being stored, it just doesn't display, for security reasons (it would make a lot more sense if it was consistent and asterisked out the field as if it were a password field, like the Cloud TtS credentials do, but...SAP).

Hi laurenfisher404,

In Manager, use the authorization "User: Allow Machine Translation" in Administration -> Permissions to determine the user groups for which the function should be activated.

After this configuration, a language icon for the machine translation is displayed in the library and in the navigation bar of the trainer.

Hi, laurenfisher404

You don't need to save any Machine Translation API credentials. Since the 2305 release, this is included in the SAP Enable Now subscription at no additional cost.

You can leave all the fields blank in Manager.

In the Producer, to run the Machine Translation for free activate the checkbox "Use Default Credentials".

Hey Anton,

Do I need to remove the fields in Manager? I activated the checkbox and the translation icon is still not showing. Should I sync Producer?

You may need to Start Editing / make minor change / Finish Editing / Publish your Trainer Style, if you haven't done so since the functionality was introduced.

Hi Dirk

I did this and I still don't see the icon feature. Do I need to update the Trainer Bar to include it?
