Cleaning up old learning assignments

Alot of our team members have learning assignments from 3-5 years old that were never completed. Is there a fast way to clean up/remove learning assignments from users profile that were created prior to a certain date. For example, I want to remove all learning assignments that were assigned to our users if they are more than 1 year old. To clarify, I do not want to delete the actual content, just remove the item from users' learning assignment. I know how to do it one-by-one, but thinking surely there is a simplier way to do this.

Some of this would depend on how the Items were assigned, but one option I've done is to go through the Manage Asssignments wizard. Select the Remove Items option and then you could be creative with your User selection parameters (e.g. add Item Needs) to find all the users that have the Item assigned. The downside is this is only good for going Item by Item so if there are a lot, it can take some time.

Another option is to use the Import Data tool to Update the Learning Assignments. If you look at the template, there is a field for Action with an option to Add, Update or Remove. This way you could remove multiple Items for multiple employees.
