Unsorted is 'content without a parent Group'. So if you are checking out objects and they go to Unsorted it is because you do not have their parent in your Producer Workarea. You need to also check out the parent(s) all the way back up to Root (or something else that you do have in your Workarea, so SEN knows where to put the object.
