Can the higher level position update on position edit the existing record in incumbents Job Info

Hi Experts,

When the higher level position is updated on position, its standard behavior that it will create a new record on incumbents job info for supervisor change.

Is there a way to make the system not create a new record but edit/update the existing record on incumbents job info? Can the behavior be tweaked such that a new record is not created on job info?
