Blended learning and Assessment

We have a Blended learning item set up in our LMS. It has the Virtual Learning and Assessments assigned to the item. It was set so the students could not take the assessment until they completed the course. Now that the Virtual training session is complete we want them to take the assessments, but the Start course link for the students does not appear on their learning plans. Is there a setting we need to change on the Admin side we need to change to make it appear?
