Best practice on Updating a live Talent Pipeline (Recruiting)

Hi experts, 

Do you know what's the best practice to update an already live talent pipeline in Recruitment? (=meaning job requisitions are being posted and candidates applied and are present in talent pipeline) 

Required updates: adding new candidate statuses, updating existing statuses, removing candidate statuses... 

Should you

  1. Copy the existing talent pipeline and make your changes in the copied version
  2. Copy the job requisition template and link the new talent pipeline? 
  3. Post the new job requisition template including the new talent pipeline (and unpublish the old job requisition template but don't make it inactive as candidates already applied) 
  4. Don't deactivate the old talent pipeline and old job requisition template (as candidates already applied to it)
  5. ...?

Hey @ellende-paep81 ,

I could not locate specific best practices for you here. But, here is feedback I can offer to your questions.

  1. Copy the existing talent pipeline and make your changes in the copied version ==> Please don't copy existing talent pipeline for just adding a new status. It is not recommended because newly created talent pipeline will expect the creation of new Job Requisition Template. It is always one to one mapping. Adding a new status in pipeline is not a big deal, it can be performed on existing talent pipeline too.
  2. Copy the job requisition template and link the new talent pipeline? ==> Answered above, It is usual that clients sometime request addition or removal. But it is not recommend to achieve this by creation of new template and pipeline. It will create additional overhead by increasing the number of JRDM templates from the system.
  3. Post the new job requisition template including the new talent pipeline (and unpublish the old job requisition template but don't make it inactive as candidates already applied)  ==> Not Recommende
  4. Don't deactivate the old talent pipeline and old job requisition template (as candidates already applied to it) ==> This is good option, I will suggest below steps.

Add new status : No issues, If the status is non-mandatory. 

It will be issue if you marked the status as mandatory because then the status will be applicable for currently open Job requisition too. If it is optional then can be skipped even after the visiblity.

Remove Existing Status:  Please export a report on the status which you are planning to remove. and follow-up with the respective owners to expediate the process to move the candidates into other statuses. Post having assurance of no candidate there based on report, you can HIDE  status. Please don't delete, just remove the visiblity.

Updating Existing Status: This also can be performed on existing Talent Pipeline, The configuration changes would influence in-flight requisition too. Unless there are significant changes in the pipeline, it is not recommend to create new talent pipeline.
