Best practice administration for Surviving Spouse administration in Employee Central

We currently have SAP HCM on prem In the US and I don't think our process to make final payments to a surviving spouse is a best practice nor do I think it can be applied globally as we roll out Employee Central.

I'm seeking feedback on process/work flows/administration in Employee Central on how others manage payments to a surviving spouse.
