Hi,
I understand that content in a "base" workarea is visible in other workareas, and that a base workarea can include templates and resources to be used in all other workareas.
However, if I create a "connected" workarea and set it as a base for my "extended" workareas, can content in my connected workarea be modified, or can I add templates to this workarea for example ? How does things work in this senario ?
Thank you:)

If you CONNECT Workarea A, and then BASE Workarea B off this, all content within A will be visible in B. If you want to CHANGE content located in A from within B, you need to FETCH it into B. There's an option for this in Manager, but in Producer it is basically 'Fetched; automatically if you try editing it. You cannot change content in A from B (unless Fetched, as discussed), and if you do Fetch it into B you break any link to the original copy in A - so any updates made to content in A will not automatically be reflected in B.
It's common to use this approach for linking in standard content, but as you note, you can also create a 'golden' Workarea that contains your central templates, then base your actual development Workareas off this, so they have access to your templates. But there's probably nothing to stop them from Fetching your golden template and then changing it in their own Workarea...

So if I create a golden workarea mainly for templates, can this workarea be extended (so that it includes resources from the server) ?
Also, If I create a workarea, does it always have to be labeled "connected" or "extended" ? Can I just create a normal workarea and copy resources to it from another workarea ?
Thank you for the help.
