Automatic Workarea Migration / Activation of Redesigned Help Panel (v2411 on-premise)

We are in the early stages of upgrading to v2411. Our technical team upgraded our sandbox server and client tools on a couple of virtual machines for us to test on.

Workarea Migration

When we opened Producer, the Migrate Workarea dialog box didn’t appear as described in the upgrade guide at help.sap.com and Info Center instructions. The Workspace > Administration > Migrate Workarea option similarly was greyed out. Based on Google research, we realized this could be because the resources may have already been upgraded. Sure enough, the system log provided by our technical team (ref: 1st screen capture below) seemed to confirm our suspicions as did a scan of the change history resource-by-resource (ref: 2nd screen capture below). The last time we upgraded (to v2211), the workarea migration was not completed until we triggered it in Producer. This time, it appears to have happened automatically as part of the upgrade activities undertaken by our technical team.

Is this change in behaviour due to our technical team selecting a different option to migrate the workareas automatically during their upgrade activities or is automatic migration now a default? In either case, is this process documented somewhere?  We didn’t see reference to such a change in the release notes since v2211 nor, as we said, in the documentation at help.sap.com or in the Info Center.

Redesigned Help Panel

Part of our upgrade testing includes opening the Web Assistant help panel from an S/4 HANA application. We were surprised to see the same old look and feel (no coloured buttons, no moveable panel – ref: screen capture below). Is there a setting in Producer or Manager that needs to be changed to activate the new panel?

Any advise or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi David,

regarding the ressources: The marked ressource has a red dot. That means it's imported from a connected workarea. Did you take a look at different ressources in your workarea (such as trainerstyle or the trainer itself)?

Regarding Companion: Did you configure the layout in your SAP-System with some parameters? Or did you modify anything in the Producer?

Unfortunately, that's not clear from the posting.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter, Thanks for your response. I have checked resources in our workareas including trainer style and the trainer itself. Many have been upgraded (trainer included). We haven't modified anything in Producer as yet. Any ideas on whether Workarea Migration is now automatically part of upgrading Manager and the client tools or why we are not seeing the redesigned panel yet?
