ALE - TRANSFERING EXTERNAL CANDIDATE PROFILE TO INTERNAL UPON HIRE

We have a standalone scenario where our eRec system (ver 6, Ehp 3, SP 10) talks to SAP-HR via ALE.

In our present setup, when an external candidate is hired and becomes an internal candidate, our ALE program (txn PFAL) creates an internal user id EEXXXXXXXX (where XXXXXXXX is the Personnel #) for this newly hired candidate. It creates an entire new set of CP, BP,NA,US. Now the hired person has to maintain 2 candidate profiles (one is internal that he has to manually update and one is the external profile that he had used to apply for the posting). This process is inefficient as the new hires now have to re-do their profiles.

Is there any standard functionality within SAP eRecruiting that would allow the new hire to keep one profile (instead of two) at all times ? So ideally we would like to keep the same set of Candidate ID (object type NA), CP and BP. Is there a standard way of doing this and are there companies that are already doing this ?

Any input you can provide will be appreciated

Hi Nash,

Check with the guidelines in note 997181 if your settings are correct. Also have a look at wiki page http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/TQTIE.

Hi Nicole,

Yes as per note 997181 it seems that it is possible to keep the same object ID for "NA".

The question here is that do you have to use PA48 for this to happen ?

If you have done this, is the system smart enough to know pick the correct action e.g. whether it is a new hire or a re-hire or a re-assignment etc ?

And have you been successful to change the userid from xxxx to EEYYYYYYYY (where yyy is the pers. no,) both in backend and fronted ?

Hi Nash,

You usually use PA48 only for new hires and not organizational changes - for that PA40 can be used. Please check also note 1783912 which is doing some changes in that lifecycle.

Hi Nash,

Yes but you have to make sure that they logon now with the internal startpage (hrrcf_a_startpage_int_cand) which is set with "SAP-Standarduser" and not "Internet user" in transaction SICF.

Hi Nicole,

if you been successful changing the userid from xxxx (this is what the external candidate used to log in with)  to EEYYYYYYYY (where yyy is the pers. no,), what happens to userid xxxx. If you use SU01 and search for xxxx, it will still be there, right ? The only thing is that it will not be mapped to any CP right ?

Hi Nash,

Yes, it is still there - usually it should be mapped to the new EEYYYYYYYY user.

Nicole
