Adopt Folder in Workarea

Hi

I was walking a collogue through connecting to a work area in producer. I notice that the "Adopt" Folder appeared. Is there anyway to correct/remove so that all documentation flows from the root folder as opposed to the unsorted folder?

Not sure what the 'Adopt' folder is, but in short, find whatever is your 'highest level' Group in Unsorted, right-click on it, and select Group Options > Set Root, and that will move all of that content from Unsorted to under Root.

Not sure if you have synchronized your content yet. But you may want to also try that

Server Workarea > Update all Objects from Server

Then you will need to drag the items from unsorted out of that folder.

Remember your producer does not need to look like the manager. I would recomend to only bring over the folders you need to work on. Not the entire structrue.

now that you mention that, I realize that I need to gain a better understanding of the structural difference between the manager and the producer.

Any particular reason to not bring over the entire structure, is it a matter of space or jeapordizing another group folder?

Hi Lauren,

both are valid reasons for not bringing the whole structure into the Producer. First, it takes longer to synchronize (that can actually take a long time if you have lots of content) and second, people might start to work in folders that they're not supposed to work in.
