Dear Experts,
We have a questionnaire that is currently in use and we want to add a question to it. When we try to change the questionnaire's status from Released to Draft we receive a message stating that "Questionnaire is already in use; not possible to withdraw the release." Is there no way to add the question to the questionnaire or do we need to create a copy of it and add the question to the copy?
Thanks for your help.

Hi John
Unfortunately this is the standard behaviour. There are several structures created when you assign a questionnaire to a candidate, such as a table with one entry for each question and another table with
all possible answers with the answers chosen by the candidate. This kind of information is impossible to update if you later change the questionnaire, i.e. if you add another question to the questionnaire, it means the system would be unable to determine what value this new question would have for people who have already answered the questionnaire beforethe change.
So it was strategically decided not to allow changes to a questionnaire once it has been released and in use (this is specific to E-Rec in other components such as PA-PD-PM - with appraisals this can be edited but the structure is different for E-Rec as more interdependencies!)
Hope this helps for this problem!
All the best
Sally

It's not specific to EREC, in OSA you have the same restriction. There is a note however that contains a Z program which you can use to unrelease an appraisal template is use. If you use that you can change the question and than re-release your template.
It says use at own risk but I've used it a couple of times and it worked
