Access if status is set inactive

We have an employee who will be leaving for 3, months but will be joining again after 3 months but we don't want employee to loose access during that period...but also we don't want employee to login during this period

Is there any possibility to set the status inactive so that employee will not be able to access to the system and also when employee returns back should not loose any of the accesses and the documents
