The first half of 2019 has been a busy time for us in the Core HR team. Read on to find out what we’ve been up to.

Core HR and the Intelligent Enterprise

If you’ve been to any SAP event lately, read any of our blogs, attended a webinar or listened to our podcasts, you’ll know that SAP is focused on enabling the Intelligent Enterprise, a strategy that allows you to rapidly transform data into insight – feeding process automation, innovation, and optimal experiences. A great example of this within Core HR is Incentive Compensation Management.
Incentive Compensation Management

We are streamlining incentive compensation management across SAP Cloud solutions. SAP Commissions is now linked to S/4HANA Cloud to create settlements and is also linked to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll for payout and settlement clearance. These capabilities help better motivate your sales teams and provide clear visibility into planning, performance, and payments.

HR Document Management

We continue to deliver on our commitment to provide flexibility and choice to meet our customers’ needs. With this in mind, we’ve expanded our HR document management offering to include both private cloud and public cloud options. With the public cloud option, the SAP SuccessFactors Document Management application by OpenText, you now have a new and cost-effective solution to manage HR documents for 1,000 employees or more. You get the same great features as the private cloud option, including an enterprise content management platform to create and manage complete employee digital records and set permissions for access and control – all from one centralized location. Additionally, you will enjoy accelerated deployment of the solution and reduced reliance on IT with simplified administrative controls.

Fixed Term Contracts in Employee Central

In many industries it is common to offer employees fixed term contracts which may or may not be extended past the initial end date. Until now, this required two transactions: the hire itself plus the termination. This carried a certain risk that the second step might be skipped or forgotten.

We have simplified this process to one step. You simply add the termination date and termination reason and the new employment will end at this exact date. Workflow-based approval is fully supported, and this makes the process of supporting temporary workers faster and more efficient.

The configuration for adding a new employee for a fixed term is very simple within Role-Based Permissions as shown below:

Time & Attendance Management

We have made the hire date correction function available to all customers who have enabled the complete Time Off feature. Previously, this function was only available to customers who either had not enabled the Time Off feature at all or had limited the feature scope to Time Off for Leave of Absence only.

This function does not need to be enabled; you simply need to grant the Hire Date Correction permission to the admin user for the function to become available in Admin Center.

This is useful if a new hire’s start date changes, the system then adjusts and pro-rates the time off accruals for the remainder of the year, based on the new hire date as seen below.

Employee Central Service Center

You asked, so we delivered! We have added our ‘AskHR’ functionality to the SAP SuccessFactors mobile app. This allows employees to easily and quickly get the help they need. Of course, you have the flexibility to set up your workflows and processes to allow your employees to contact their local HR representative with questions. Employees can also create tickets directly from their mobile device and check the status of any HR issue that they’ve reported. They can engage with the HR agent directly and easily, regardless of time and location, resulting in increased employee satisfaction and engagement. This will also contribute to lowering your HR department’s time to resolution for issues.

To activate Ask HR in the SuccessFactors mobile app for your employees, go to the Admin Center -> Enable Mobile Features -> Modules -> Employee Central, and select HR Service Center.

Thanks Paul –

  1. Would this not be part of the compensation module also with bi-directional integration set up from compensation to EC and Payroll?

I would see this set up as a plan on the comp module.

Would these incentive plans allow for pay mixes and OTE components?

2. Would the HR document management permissions follow whats set up in RBP?

Interesting article Paul.  Do you know where I can go to learn more about how OpenText integration documents are attached to employees in SFSF?  Thanks, Danielle
