Dear community,
If you feel like you've read this blog post before, yes, that is quite possible. New insights have prompted me to revise this blog post again. So it's well worth re-reading the blog and especially the instructions part.
All the changes described in this blog are only relevant for content which is directly linked on the redesigned home page. Content which is linked to other modules or pages of SuccessFactors doesn’t need to be changed.
As part of the HXM strategy, SAP SuccessFactors has developed a redesigned home page.
They call it “
Reimagined Home Page”
The Reimagined Home Page incorporates customer feedback and addresses known issues. It's faster to load, less cluttered, and more interactive.
With the Reimagined Home Page you can expect the following experience:
- quick access to frequent or important actions
- dynamic, individualized content for the user
- custom content for the organization
- a consistent experience on all devices, both on the Web and in our mobile app
- a banner image for branding
- a simplified administration experience
Here a screenshot with the former user interface and the latest user interface:
Former user interface vs. latest user interface
The Reimagined Home Page experience is available for testing and use in both Preview and Production, for early adopters. With the 2H 2021 Release it becomes general availability and can be used by
Admin Opt-In. With the 1H 2022 Release it becomes a so called “Universal” feature. Universal features are enabled automatically, and you cannot disable them.
That means you can try this new Reimagined Home Page between the 2H 2021 and the 1H 2022 release. You can collect more information about the roll out plan by reading the blog post “
Migration to Reimagined Home Page Within 1H 2022 Release - Innovation Alert” by Shannon Kahl.
If you are looking for more information around the Reimagined Home Page itself I would recommend the blog post “
Reimagined Home Page- A Deeper Dive and a few customer questions, answered” by Aadil Bashir Bhat:
Impact to the SAP Companion
The use of the Reimagined Home Page will have an impact to your customer individual created SAP Companion content.
The SAP standard content is not affected unless you have modified them.
What will change?
It’s just a small but important thing, the “Context” information for the landing page will change:
With the former user interface, it was HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3
With the latest user interface, it will change to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4
For existing Guided Tours and Context Help elements which are linked to the Home Page we need now to adjust them a bit.
If you don’t want to change your content, there are workarounds available. One would be to have Guided Tours start directly on the module start page (f.e. the performance & goals page) instead of on the Home Page. You could also create a link tile with links to the Guided Tours if you want to make users aware of their existence.
Be aware that this change only affects the one Context Help object which is located on the Home Page, not all single link tiles need to be adjusted.
Before you just do the modifications in the initial projects, we highly recommend to duplicate the original projects first and make the changes in the duplicate.
With this approach, you can already make these changes now and the content will be shown for the former and the latest user interface.
These are the steps you should do:
Here is a video showing the steps for Context Help and Guided Tour objects:
For
Context Help projects:
1) Open the
SAP Enable Now Producer from the SAP Enable Now Manager.
2) Check out the project "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3".
3) Start editing parental group.
4) Duplicate the HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3 project (Right click on the object and choose "Duplicate..").
5) Rename the project name to "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4".
(The project name can be named differently, but for reasons of consistency we would recommend our suggestion.)
6) Select the duplicated project "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_V4".
7) Change on the right side under “
Basic Properties” the "
Context" text string from HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3 to "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4". (Requires
Advanced Layout)
8) On the right side under “
SAP Companion Context” check in “
Full Context” if there is a text string with HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3, if so, change it to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4
9) Open (double click) now the Project "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4" with editing permissions
10) Select the
Screen Macro
11) Change in “
Title” & “
Key” the text string from HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3 to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4 (Requires
Advanced Layout)
12) Save and close the project
13) Finish editing and publish the project back to the Server.
Here a screenshot of the needed Context modification (Step1-8) done in the SAP Enable Now Producer:
Context Help - Context adjustments in the SAP Enable Now Producer

For
Guided Tour projects:
1) Open the SAP Enable Now Producer from the SAP Enable Now Manager.
2) Check out all Guided Tours with context reference "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3". I would recommend using the search function in the SAP Enable Now Manager to identify them.
3) Start editing parental group.
4) Duplicate the required Guided Tour project (Right click on the object and choose "Duplicate..").
5) Select the duplicated Guided Tour Project
6) Change on the right side under “
Basic Properties” the "
Context" text string from “HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3” to "HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4". (Requires
Advanced Layout)
7) On the right side under “
SAP Companion Context” check in “
Full Context” if there is a text string with HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3, if so, change it to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4
8) Open (double click) now the duplicated Guided Tour Project with editing permissions
9) Select the
1. Screen Macro
10) Change in “
Title” & “
Key” the text string from HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3 to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4 (Requires
Advanced Layout), should the
“Title” be empty, then let it empty.
11) Check also all the other Screen Macros if there is in “
Title” & “
Key” a text string which is HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V3, if so, change it to HOME/HOME_TAB/HOME_
V4
11) Save and close the project
12) Finish editing and publish the project back to the Server.

Guided Tour - Context adjustments in the SAP Enable Now Producer
Here a screenshot of the needed Screen Macro modification (Step 8-12) done in the SAP Enable Now Producer:

After doing all these changes please don’t forget to save all objects back to the Server and
publish it.
We don’t expect that the other parameter which you will find under “SAP Companion Context” will change, these are mainly:
Product Name =
SFSF, Product Version =
1805
But if you should miss content after upgrading to the Reimagined Home Page, it’s worthful to compare these values of the mentioned parameters and adapting these if necessary.
Here a screenshot how you do this.
Comparison of the context information
Should it be necessary to adjust for instance the Product Version, you can change this via bulk approach for all your SAP Companion content. Please take a look into the
SAP Companion Authoring Guide in chapter 5.4 – “Updating the Context Properties”
To Summarize, the Reimagined Home Page is a great offering from SAP SuccessFactors and is the key feature of the SAP HXM Strategy. You can test it between the 2H 2021 and the 1H 2022 release. In the context of SAP Companion it requires some "Context" modifications for your individual created content.
I hope that this information will make it easy for you to switch to the Reimagined Home Page.
All the best, Michael
