The next Employee Central SAP Best Practices Package will soon be released and with that it’s time to give a sneak preview on the enhanced package scope.
What’s new?
One of our major enhancements is the
Concurrent Employment functionality which is a new scope item that we have added to our package
. A concurrent employment is a second employment for an employee in the same company. An employee can have one primary employment and multiple secondary employments in the system.
Another significant enhancement is the
Global Assignment functionality, which allows you to manage a temporary assignment of one employee to another company for a set period. Most likely, this company is located abroad and is either a subsidiary or the parent company, at which the employee is employed. A new employment must be created in the system. Once the global assignment is active, there is one home and one host employment for this employee.
This functionality allows companies to not only assign their employees to global assignments, but to maintain both home and host master data records and to track them separately by assignment.
Apprentice Management is the third major functionality which we have added to our SAP Best Practices package scope. The functionality supports the planning and management of the educational programs in which the young talents rotate between on-the-job trainings and study, both within the company and external.
With Concurrent Employment, Global Assignment, Apprentice Management we have three new scope items in the package scope which help you managing your entire workforce. Therefore, we clubbed them together to a
new scope item group which is called “
Total Workforce Management”. The scope item Manage Contingent Workforce which originally belonged to the scope item group “HR Transactions”, is now also part of the new scope item group “Total Workforce Management”.
With that, we have five different scope item groups with the following coverage:
The scope is country specific, so please keep in mind that the scope items listed are not necessarily part of a localized country version.
Besides these major updates, several minor enhancements will be released. Two are listed below:
- Enable mobile access for Android and IoS. Time Sheet and Time Off functionalities can now be handled via mobile devices. Push notifications for workflow actions can be send, approval workflows can be processed.
- For Contingent Workforce Management, we have created three different work order types as described in the respective implementation guide: SOW Worker, Contingent Worker, Profile Worker.
The new package will be out on
June 12, 2017. It will be available on the
SAP Best Practices Explorer. To better understand the scope of the package we recommend consulting the configuration guides, workbooks, test scripts, process diagrams and the scope item simulations (offline recorded demos).
Finally, I have another good announcement for our SAP SuccessFactors sell and implementation authorized partners and our SAP colleagues: We are currently working on an update of our
Best Practices Demo Instance. Stay tuned for an announcement on its availability.
