The
SAP SuccessFactors Global Cloud Architect Community is a team of highly experienced, SAP HCM and SuccessFactors Cloud experts with specific skillsets for Strategic and Architectural guidance.
Why a new set of Assets and who will benefit from ALP?
In keeping up with SAP's focus on customer success, and empowering Partners to provide the same, the team recently published 1H 2020 revisions of the Architectural Leading Practices (ALP) on various HCM implementation topics.
These ALPs are implementation delivery related strategic artifacts, and can be leveraged by both
Partners and Customers to finalize SAP SuccessFactors project-related design decisions during the early phases of a project.
What are Architecture Leading Practices (ALPs)?
The
Architectural Leading Practice (ALP) is a set of recommended configuration decisions and guidance on topics associated with a SuccessFactors implementation, and are recommendations to drive positive outcomes based on intended system design, proven success from previous implementations.
ALPs provide high-level strategic guidance related to crucial architectural topics that customers encounter during SAP SuccessFactors implementations and beyond.
Here's an informative blog that we had collaborated with SAP CoE and the SAP Best Practices team, outlining the
Overview of SAP SuccessFactors Implementation Assets. This blog will help customers and partners understand how and when to leverage the different implementation assets available.
How to use the Architecture Leading Practices?
Partners: Can leverage the content of these ALPs during the early phases of a project to educate the customer about different Solution Architecture areas within SuccessFactors HXM Suite, that the customer project team should pay attention to during the project and while working with module consultants during design workshops.
Customers: Can leverage the content of these ALPs to get a preview of the critical SuccessFactors solution Architecture components, understand their importance in the project life-cycle, think through the Design Decision areas (and how it relates to their existing processes), and engage in constructive discussion with the Partners/Consultants during the design workshops.
ALPs are not meant to deliberate on module specific configuration decisions or values, but high-level Design Decisions and associated considerations.
What's new in the 1H 2020 Release of ALPs?
With the 1H 2020 release, we have added eleven new ALPs. The notable additions are the
HXM Cross-module processes related ALPs. We have added five new ALPs for each of the new cross-module processes, as identified in Model Company for HR.
- Attract & Acquire Process
- Pay for Performance Process
- Identify & Grow Process
- Educate & Develop Process
- Manage Workforce
The beauty of SAP SuccessFactors HXM suite is its tightly integrated built-in Cross-module integration. A fully-integrated and connected HR and talent suite is essential to achieve full value realization of the solution. You will learn all cross-module process interactions available within each of these Process areas.
Payroll undeniably is the most stated module during an HR implementation, and keeping that in mind, we have also added
EC Payroll Processes ALP! The Payroll Process ALP provides valuable process interactions between EC Payroll and other HXM modules/SAP Products/External Vendors.
The
Analytics Strategy and
Data Protection & Privacy are new, and two delicate and crucial topics during implementation. These ALPs provide some decision-making measures and content. Keep in mind; these two ALP contents are based as of July 2020 related product roadmap.
Last year, only Job Architecture ALP was published. We have also added
SAP SuccessFactors Org Structure and Pay Structure decks this year. The concept of these 3 structures is fundamental for customers moving from SAP On-Premise HCM or other ERP HRIS system to SAP SuccessFactors. These ALPs will help to understand the differences between SuccessFactor's core structures vs. customer's existing HRIS structures.
And finally, the
SAP S/4HANA Deployment Options for HR to guide customers with available options for HR with SAP S/4HANA On-Premise and Cloud versions.
These documents are accessible for Partners under the
'Implement' tab in
PartnerEdge, under the subheading
'SAP SuccessFactors Solution Architecture.'
These ALPs are also available for our customers in the Customer Community under the Empowerment Center -

We hope these assets will help in your SAP SuccessFactors engagements. We appreciate your feedback!
