In a recent Gartner study on the talent landscape and career pathing, 45% of employees who had left a job in the previous year cited a lack of professional development opportunities as a reason for leaving, and 35% cited their career trajectory. While the real cost of employee turnover is a bit of mystery due to the lack of processes in place to track it, as outlined in this research by People Keep, organizations can often bank on recruitment, onboarding and training costs, loss of productivity, engagement and institutional knowledge, a decline or morale and much more. Succession and development planning continues to be imperative for organizations to grow employee skills, plan for the future at scale and create personalized experiences to increase engagement and productivity.
