General Display Name Opt out in Second Half of 2024

We are excited to announce the upcoming release for our opt out of General Display Name, so the employee name could be consistent globally in suite. Starting with the Second Half 2024 release, General Display Name will be enabled for all customers with the option to opt out. For the First Half 2025 release, General Display Name will become universal for all customers and the opt out option will be removed.

General Display Name is release to customer two years ago. For now thousands of customers have enabled and been benefit from the feature. With General Display Name, customer can configure employee names that are expected to be displayed consistently across SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite. A new admin option, Enable adoption of General Display Name, is added to control it. You can see this option under Admin Center -> Company System and Logo Settings. The new capability provides both consistency and flexibility to managing display names. With the new capability, general display names preferred by employees are displayed in all interactions where a legal name isn’t required, while administrators and HRBPs can also access a person’s legal name whenever needed. For details how to configure General Display Name please refer to https://community.sap.com/t5/human-capital-management-blogs-by-sap/adopting-general-display-name/ba-...

If customer has already enabled General Display Name, nothing will be changed. If customer haven't enable General Display Name but configured name format on People Profile, the name format will be used for General Display Name. For non-EC customers and for EC customers who haven't configure any name format, the system calculates the value according to message key COMMON_USER_DISPLAYNAME in company default locale, by default the message key is defined as a combination of first name, middle name and last name. If there is no full name, middle name, and last name, the field value is set to Unknown. To migrate to General Display Name, we need to run a job to generate display name according to name format configuration. That will be scheduled after new release downtime upgrade. Details please refer to below migration timetable

Based on current release schedule, we will plan to run the General Display Name migration job as below: JobType: Migrate General Display Name
