In this blog, we will cover how to export a Widget Data Set to Microsoft Excel
Export data in CSV format
Use the ellipsis button on
the right-hand side and select 'Export' from the drop-down menu.
Select the 'CSV' format in the File Type option and use 'Point of view' option under Scope. Click on OK. A CSV file will be downloaded.
When the data is exported from a CSV under the 'Point of view' scope option, we can only
see 500 records in Microsoft Excel output.
To download the complete data set in CSV format, use ‘All’ option under the scope as shown below.
When the CSV data is exported from 'All' scope option,
all the records will be generated in Microsoft Excel output as shown below.
Export data in CSV format
Use the ellipsis button on
the right-hand side and select 'Export' from the drop-down menu.
Select 'XLSX' format in the file type. Click on OK. An 'XLSX' file will be downloaded which will have only 500 records.
To download the complete data set in XLSX, change the drill limitation to Unlimited. Hover the mouse as shown and click on ‘Edit Drill Limitation’
Use the 'Unlimited' option and click Ok.
Repeat the export steps. Use the ellipsis button on
the right-hand side and select export from the drop-down menu. Select XLSX format in the file type. Click on OK. An XLSX file will be downloaded which will have all the data records.
Note: When you change the drill limitation to unlimited, you will get another warning message that says selecting more than the recommended sell limit might cause a long wait time due to the huge amount of data. This means if you want all the data in Excel above 500 rows, you will need to wait longer as the data is first fetched in the story designer page, then Excel during the export. This can reduce the performance of the story.
