
5 Important Files of Variable Pay Template Configuration
Navigation to the Files Configuration:
Compensation Home --> Select Variable Pay Template --> Manage Plan Details & Manage Users
Configuration File | Significance | Technical Details |
Business Goals (.csv) | Contains the business goal definitions, goal forecasts, and goal results. The variable pay module requires this information to determine the goal-level payouts which impact the bonus calculation. | Upload Variable Pay Objective Template in Provisioning and Map the same in the Variable Pay Plan Template Under Set Bonus Calculation. |
Provisioning Setup: Upload Variable Pay Objective Plan Template under Managing Plan Template

Note – <obj-plan-id>8005</obj-plan-id> will be used while uploading the business goals .csv file.
Instance Setup: Choose the Uploaded Goal Plan Name from the drop-down list.
File Details: Column F ID should match with the Goal Plan Template ID.

Employee History File (.csv) | Contains the employee’s date effective history records. The variable pay module requires this information to determine bonus plan eligibility, bonus basis, and proration for each employee | Upload Succession Data Model with "VarPayEmpHistData" Background Element and Map the same in the Variable Pay Plan Template Under Settings. |
Provisioning Setup: Upload Succession Data Model under Succession Management – Import/Export Data Model.

Note – Record Type field must be added for all EC – Integrated Templates
Instance Setup: Choose the Uploaded Background Element from the drop-down list under Settings.
In EC Integrated Templates, map the fields to fetch the assignment records from Employee Central to Employee History File.
This Mapping is done under Settings --> Employee Central Employee History Field Mapping
Eligibility Rule for History Records:
This Eligibility rule will help in pulling the eligible employees assignment records. Here is the sample eligibility rule.
Eligibility Rule is Configured with Scenario – Define Eligibility Rule for Variable Pay Planning and selected under Settings --> Employee Central Settings.
Now, Template is ready to fetch the data from EC to EHF by pushing the process button by clearing the checkboxes as below:
Note – This can be exported as a .csv file for manually adjustments to assignment records wherever applicable.

Instance Setup:
This Eligibility rule will help in assigning the bonus plan to the employees.
Eligibility Rule is Configured with Scenario – Define Eligibility for Variable Pay Planning and mentioned in the Bonus Plans file upload.
Once Eligibility Rules are mapped to the Bonus Plans, The List of Eligibility rules can be seen under Manage Plan Details --> Bonus Plan Eligibility Rules
Note – In EC Integrated Templates, Legacy eligibility rules (.csv) file can also be used.

Bonus Plan (.csv) | Contains the Bonus Plan definition with Split Percentage distribution of Individual, team, and Business Performance Factor |
Instance Setup:
Bonus Plan can be created under Manage Plan Details --> Bonus Plans
File Details: Column A is Bonus Plan Name, Column D is the Bonus Eligibility Rule and other columns will have section weights.

Business Goals Weights (.csv) | Links the business goals to the bonus plans and assigns unique weights to this relationship. |
Instance Setup:
This flat file can be imported or exported from Instance under Manage Plan Details --> Import/Export Business Goal Weights
Later, the weights can be viewed under Bonus Plans --> Open any Bonus Plan and click on Configure Business Goal Weights
File Details: Column A is Bonus Plan Name, Column B is the Business Goal Name, Column C is the weight (in a scale of 0 to 1) and Column D is in which order to display under business section of worksheet.
Conclusion: These 5 Configuration Files are important to push the Calculate Bonus before launching the worksheets.
