For most of the Middle Eastern countries for a certain sector of employees, the Tuition allowance is paid as per the child’s grade and Academic Year session. The payments schedules are also different based on the child’s academic session, whether they follows calendar year, April-March session or Sep-Aug session.
With the standard employee central Dependents portlet, it becomes very difficult to fetch a particular employee dependent academic year and his school grade, if he/she has multiple children.
Here is how I achieved this.
Create a custom Field in the personRelationship Portlet which will Rank the child records. In the standard Employee central system, the child records are ranked as they are displayed in the UI. This is always the best method to do so, as you can have instances where the dependent records are deleted and added.
Then write a rule to default this Rank “on Change “when you add the dependent child Record.
Manage Business Configuration--->PersonRelationshipInfo-->relationship-type field.
Rule-
What this rule will do is- It will update the child Number in the Custom field that you have added in the personRelationshipInfo, when you select Add dependent and select ‘Child’ in Relationship Type
Benefit eligibility rule to set entitlement amount according to Academic year and grade.
Using the above benefit eligibility rule with the custom Child Rank field , you can fetch the Academic Year session , Dependent School grade for the specific dependent record.
Since each dependent entitlement amount is based on the dependent grade and academic year, you can create one benefit plan for each child(If the requirement states that one dependent child's entitlement cannot be used on a different dependent Child claim). So, if the organization provides benefits for 3 children, you will need to create 3 different plans and default the entitlement amount as per the above eligibility rule for Child1, Child2, and Child3.
There are more validations and rules needed to make this work and avoid duplicate claim by employees. Please keep following my blogs for more on this .
Thanks and Cheers.
