The Release blog series is back!

This blog highlights my favorites of SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) 2H release innovations. Once again, SAP SuccessFactors team, I can say, they did a fabulous job in accommodating something every corner, especially in country/region specifics. Few enhancements are again based out of customer community ideas. This looks very encouraging. Keep going!

As always, this blog doesn’t cover any time and attendance innovations, I will cover entire time management in the next blog.

Alright, here is my list of favorites from 2H 2021:

  1. Deep Link to People Profile Block Supported in Alert Email Notifications: Good Start! Hope to see more tags coming from SAP SuccessFactors team. This innovation is all about enhances alerting experience by navigating users directly to a relevant People Profile block page. When you configure your alert message, system now invite you with a new tag to generate a deep link that takes users to a specific block page of People Profile. But remember, only alerts for the following seven Employee Central entities are supported:

  • Compensation Information

  • Employment Information

  • Global Assignment

  • Job Information

  • Non-Recurring Pay Components

  • Recurring Pay Components

  • Work Permit

    • Configuration Type: Universal

Note: Currently, adding the tag in the header isn't supported.

  1. Enhanced HRIS Sync Mappings in Business Configuration UI: Enhanced version, addition to previous enhancement, SAP is now allowing us to add, edit, or delete HRIS Elements mapping in the HRIS Sync Mappings section. Any change you make in the HRIS Sync mapping section is available in the HRIS Elements.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. Manage Conditional Groups and Defaults: You can now autofill employee data and position attribute values based on organizational and employment grouping criteria. Well, you heard it right. Thanks to SAP once again for listening to customers. With this feature, you can configure complex selection criteria (conditions) without any code in business rules to achieve conditional defaults. With this innovation, we can set defaults for fields of type MDF, Foundation, and Picklist. The entities are currently supported:

  • Position,

  • Job Information,

  • Compensation Information, and

  • Employment Details

    • Configuration Type: Universal

Note: You can configure only 15 condition fields for each group. For example, 15 for Employer Group, 15 for Employee Group.

.

  1. Enhanced Validation for Background Element Configuration: Nice to have! We now see a validation message to notify us not to configure the same values for the Data Field ID and Background Element ID.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. Downloading the Import Template for the Base Model of Country/Region-Specific Configured Entities: Relief!  You can now download the base model fields for CSF configured entities by deselecting all the countries/regions in the Select country/region field – this will now not trigger any error like the erstwhile, you can also select country/region to get the download file with only country specific relevant fields. If you remember, till date, when we try to download the template for a particular country/region, fields related to other countries/regions were also seen.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. Removal of Compound Non-Effective Dated Entities Option: Going forward, Compound Non-Effective Dated Entities option will not be available under Import Employee Data page because SAP now offers more flexibility importing data entity by entity, which means, you can now continue using the single entity import of Biographical Information, Employment Details, National ID Information, Email Information, and Phone Information.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. Removal of 'Enable Centralized Services' Setting in Admin Center: SAP has now removed the "Enable Centralized Services" setting from the Admin Center > Company System and Logo Settings. Many HRIS entities are either universally supported on Centralized services or have their own setting for Centralized services.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. Access to Corporate Data Model and Country/Region-Specific Corporate Data Model Versions in Admin Center: Mostly a goodbye to Provisioning, Now, effective 2h 2021 version, viewing of all the uploaded versions of the Corporate Data Model and Country/Region-Specific Corporate Data Model is possible via Admin Center.

    • Configuration Type: Universal

  1. SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone Now Supports Multiple Employment: One of my favorites of 2H 2021! Employee Central users with multiple employment such as global assignments and concurrent employment can now switch between multiple employment. When employee switch to a specific employment, he/she can access to workspaces, UI cards and guided experiences accordingly, which is now matches experience to the context switcher in SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite.

    • Configuration Type: Admin Opt‑in

  1. Country/Region Specifics: Again, SuccessFactors team fulfilled some good country specific requirements like:

  • Tunisia: Local Version for Tunisia, which includes National ID, Personal Document Types, Personal Information, Job Information, Disability Information, Dependents Information, Home Address, Corporate Address and Payment Information.

  • Russia: Three new work permit document types for Russia has been included to the picklist permit doctype. The document types are: RUS4 - Birth Certificate, RUS5 - Permanent Residence Permit and RUS6 - Temporary Residence Permit

  • Slovakia: Enhancements made to country/region specific information for Slovakia for the following blocks: National ID, Personal Document Types, Personal Information, Job Information, Disability Information, Dependents Information, Home Address, Corporate Address and Payment Information

  • Brazil: New country/region specific global information field for Brazil: <Residence Period of Foreign Employee>. We have also added an associated picklist: residenceTime_BRA

  • Poland: Several changes to country/region specifics corporate address fields for Poland, including the renaming of existing fields, adding a new field, <Municipality> and removing some fields

  • Taiwan: SAP SuccessFactors team enhanced the format and regular expression for the Taiwan national ID type <ID Card>

  • Netherlands: SAP SuccessFactors team enhanced the description and regular expression for the Netherlands national ID type <BSN - Citizen Service Number>.

  • India: Now you have a new national ID type and two new work permit documents for India. The national ID type is Universal Account Number (UAN), and the work permit documents are Passport and Residence Permit

  • Romania: Enhanced the picklist assignment for Dismissals Notice Period for Employer for Romania

  • United Kingdom: Enhancements to the postal code format validation for home addresses in the United Kingdom, includes updated information on which letters can be used in certain positions in the postal code

  • China: Label changes to work permit picklists

  • New Zealand: You can now see new branch codes in New Zealand routing number deep validations … cheers!

Let me remind you again, SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central recently hits remarkable 101 (localizations) taking SuccessFactors unreachable to so called competitors 😊
