Hello Everyone!

It's been a while I have written a blog on any RCM configurations. Allow me to share an observation on one of the new features and its possible contraptions.

This is not a 'how-to-configure' instructions on 'Quick-Apply' functionality in Recruiting, but rather it is a quick explainer on how the entire flow of Quick-Apply works, as the ambiguity in functioning of this feature has caused a lot of befuddlement among users. You can certainly take refuge in the implementation guide for the instructions on setting up this functionality.

Let's go through a quick journey as a user and also as a candidate to comprehend better. Once you have configured all the requisite provisioning settings and fields in Job Requisition XML template, you would get an option to activate 'Quick Apply' in the job requisition form based on the permissions given. The user would see the below radio button to activate/deactivate Quick-Apply

This button can be toggled at any time the user wants and there are no restrictions on the number of times it can be done. This is pretty much the only task with the user for converting any requisition into a 'Quick Apply' one.

Now let's move on the Candidate's side of the view and how the activation of 'Quick Apply' changes the workflow for any new or existing candidate. Here we can contemplate on two scenarios, one where the candidate is newly creating a profile in the system and the other where already a candidate exists and is logged in into the system. Lets see each one of them
Quick Apply just helps in having a workflow where candidates can add minimum amount of fields in Candidate profile and then proceed to fill in the application in the same page thereby reducing time required to apply for any job.

a) New Candidate

Any new candidate applying for a 'quick-apply' activated job will see the screen as below. The workflow is pretty simple where the candidate sees the minimum amount of fields from the candidate profile (just the resume and cover letter in the below screenshot) and the rest of the fields are the fields required for creating new candidate profile and the application fields.

b) Existing Candidate

Any existing candidate applying for a 'quick-apply' activated job will see the screen as below. The workflow is pretty simple where the candidate sees the minimum amount of fields from the candidate profile (just the resume and cover letter in the below screenshot) and the rest of the fields are the  application fields.

Please note that in the above two cases the only difference is the fields used to create new candidate profile in the case of new candidates. There is a common misconception here that we can reduce or edit the amount of application fields that a candidate can see, but it is not the case. Quick apply helps only to see minimum amount of Candidate profile fields that a candidate has to fill before filling out the application form. It does not help in reducing application fields in any way. Also an additional observation from my end is that the Quick Apply works well with Multi-stage application.

Quick Apply just helps in having a workflow where candidates can add minimum amount of fields in Candidate profile and then proceed to fill in the application in the same page thereby reducing time required to apply for any job. One of the primary recommendations by the product team is to have a separate concise application template instead of a detailed form in order to clearly achieve the objective of Quick-apply, lest the entire purpose of the functionality will be defeated.
