When an employee is terminated, all the necessary information to terminate the contract will be sent to the payroll system, and any other stakeholders will be informed. Standard offboarding will be triggered immediately once the termination is approved in Employee Central. But what happens if the person who resigned is a talent? Typically, organizations try to retain talent, and if the negotiation is successful, HR needs to proceed with the manual cancellation of the termination event and offboarding. It's also necessary to check if the termination has already been replicated in the payroll system and to remove the termination of the contract. In this blog, written with @BarbaraSerio ,there is an alternative solution to use offboarding as a pre-termination process.
Step to configure
- Create an event reason 'Pre-termination' as a data change event. This way, the employee status will remain active.

- If an event derivation rule is configured in Employee Central, add the event reason to the rule based on customer requirements (for example, based on the value of a specific field in the Job Information portlet).

- Configure the business rule for Offboarding adding this event reason

- Configure a specific program for the negotiation
HR can start the process by adding the data change event and offboarding will be triggered. If the negotiation fails, then a termination can be added manually in Employee Central.
