Issue: When using Hierarchy Based Approval (HBA) the Approval button is disabled for some higher-level managers.

The cause seems to be the higher-level managers are not eligible for the programs even though their direct reports are eligible.  As a result, forms are not created for these managers and some forms in the hierarchy are missing.

The solution is quite simple.  If you make the managers compensation eligible, they will appear on the forms when you create forms from the top of the hierarchy.  It is important to also ensure these managers are set to be Salary Tab ineligible.  Making them Salary Tab ineligible ensures that budgets are not impacted, and planning cannot be done for those employees.  By doing this, we ensure the Approval button is enabled.

How do you set this eligibility?  You have two options and either one will work just as well.

  1. You can create an eligibility rule and manage the permissions.
    1. From the template, navigate to Plan Setup; Plan Details; Eligibility
    2. Select a rule and choose Yes for Compensation Eligibility and No for Salary Tab EligibilityDavidSomelofske_0-1748614920203.png

  2. If you have a field in Employee Central or a MDF Table which will determine eligibility you can set the eligibility in the Design Worksheet.
    1. From the template, navigate to Plan Setup; Design Worksheet; Design Worksheet
    2. From the drop down that defaults to Form Fields choose Eligibility Fields
    3. Click Add Eligibility Column
    4. Choose Compensation and Salary (Tab) and Click Done
    5. For Each field, map the eligibility to the correct field in EC or on the MDF
