Our future-ready workforce product strategy has a strong emphasis on engaging experiences, AI and skills. It aims to establish the talent intelligence hub (TIH) as the single source of truth for skills across SAP SuccessFactors solutions including SAP SuccessFactors Learning to use AI to continuously help organizations and employees understand their skills and match people with personalized career pathways and learning opportunities. This strategy is advancing, delivering new capabilities across the talent suite and facilitating strategic investments. As recently announced at SuccessConnect, the talent intelligence hub now integrates skills data from external partners..

Partners such as Beamery, Degreed, Korn Ferry, Lightcast, Skillsoft, TalenTeam, and TechWolf are integrating, or preparing to integrate, their skills data into the talent intelligence hub. This integration enables organizations to incorporate existing skills frameworks and create a unified, future-ready workforce—with more integrations and partners planned for the future. New AI and skills-related capabilities play a significant role in the 2H2024 release for SAP SuccessFactors, including enhancements for Learning. Additionally, the 2H 2024 release introduces several exciting innovations for Learning, including:

Enhancements for the integrated learning experience (ILX)

Over the past several releases, we've introduced and enhanced the Integrated Learning Experience (ILX) for learners, providing clarity and prioritization for what the user 'must, should, and wants to learn'. We continue to improve the learner discovery experience through the addition of custom pages and category browsing capabilities. Utilizing the card and banner templates from ILX, customers can now create custom pages that seamlessly integrate with the existing ILX, making personalization and branding straightforward for administrators to deploy to your users. Curating additional learning experiences for your users that showcase initiatives, highlight important learning topics, and lead learners to a more engaging path of discovery helps to drive organizational specific needs and to guide them along their learning journey. This added flexibility has been highly requested by our customers using ILX.

Approval cards are now added to the new learning experience, following the same pattern established on the SAP SuccessFactors home page which is a key function for managers and other users who are regularly tasked with approving training requests. Users encounter various learning scenarios, based on administrator configurations, that require approval requests to proceed. For example, learners may need approval to enroll in a course or class, or to withdraw from a class. In some cases, learners and managers request approval when they must add learning to the history. Users now defined with one of default roles as approvers, such as line managers, second level managers, instructors or HR business partners will now be able to see these approvals directly on the new ILX.

We’ve also introduced a delegate experience: When a user has been assigned as a delegate, they can act on behalf of the delegator from the new home page. The access of a delegator's new homepage is based on permissions given. In delegate mode, the delegate will see a message strip on all pages, clearly indicating they are acting on behalf of the delegator. To return to their own homepage, delegates can simply click "Return to My Learning."

We also provide additional insights to learners when they are engaging with recommended content. The source of recommendation (admin, peer, personalized) can be shown to help learners understand who made the recommendation and encourages them to complete it. Learners can also access external links recommended by administrators or peers on the new homepage.

There are much more enhancements delivered for ILX than the ones above. Please note that the option to disable the Integrated Learning Experience got removed to progress towards the deprecation of the legacy experience in a future release. But let’s switch gears now from the learner to the manager.

New manager view

After enhancing the learner experience in the first two releases of the new ILX and introducing significant improvements to the administrator experience—such as new configuration options for custom cards and banners in 1H 2024—we're excited to unveil a refreshed manager view, that ties to the new design of the new learning home page. The new manager view shows the manager’s direct reports and gives an overview of the status of their team members’ current assignments, reflecting the categories of required learning, important learning, self-driven learning, while enabling them to take care about next measures.

In the refreshed manager view, managers can take action for individuals, such as view or add to their learning history, manage or request observers, mark requirements as complete, review an item’s prerequisites or curriculum details, and register them to a class. They can also send each person a reminder to complete their overdue assignments.

Managers can also take bulk actions for their team, such as nudge multiple direct reports in one go, which will send them all an email reminder to complete their overdue training in just a few clicks.

At our SuccessConnect event we just announced that 30 new embedded AI use cases across the HCM suite are going to get delivered with 2H2024 release to help provide organizations with greater efficiencies and experiences. Let’s focus on some which are tightly related to Learning.

AI-capabilities

Customers can now import predefined skills provided by Open Content Network (OCN) partners. Those providers can import the associated skills along with courses into SAP SuccessFactors Learning. The skills are automatically standardized with skills from talent intelligence hub (TIH) and associated to Learning courses.  This feature allows customers to seamlessly integrate the skills configured in the talent intelligence hub (TIH) with Learning, ensuring consistency and alignment. As a result, administrators can boost productivity by eliminating the need to manually associate skills with OCN courses.

AI capabilities can also now be used to extract skills from item descriptions to align the skills with the talent intelligence hub’s attributes library and to automatically associate them with learning items. This feature helps to infer skills for courses in bulk, allowing customers to automatically apply the skills configured in the talent intelligence hub (TIH) within Learning. This helps to eliminate the need to manually identify and assign skills, streamlining the process.

We now offer an AI-assisted writing tool that uses generative AI capabilities to assist with writing tasks. The interactive tool can be leveraged to enhance multiple aspects of writing such as clarity or conciseness. In 2H 2024, the writing assistant will be available in the title & description fields for items, curricula, programs, collections, and quick guides.

Looking ahead to early 2025, we're excited to introduce even more AI-powered capabilities for Learning. These include Joule integration in Learning, which will enable users to leverage conversational AI to find learning content and check team compliance status, as well as an intelligent Q&A tool that provides instant answers to questions about your SAP SuccessFactors Learning content. This tool will pull resources and reference links from a variety of sources, including courses, videos, and documents across different standards. But we'll save the details for our next release blog!
