Overview

A highly anticipated enhancement is now available in SAP SuccessFactors Stories as part of the 1H 2025 release, offering the ability to open Performance Management forms directly from a Stories, in Print Preview format.

With just a click on the Document ID, users can jump straight to the PM form without being part of the route map.

Let’s explore how this works and walk through the step-by-step configuration so anyone (even first-time Story designers) can build this into their reports.


Why Is This Feature Important?

  • View the Performance Management form from within a report

  • If you have access to PM form data in Stories, the direct deeplink can be configured in Stories, providing you access to PM form
  • No need to navigate to other modules or be in the performance management workflow
  • Based on a Customer Influence Idea - it’s built from customer feedback!

What You’ll Need

Before you begin, make sure:

  • You have access to Stories in Report Center.

  • You have the data permission: User > Performance > Data Access: Story

Step-by-Step Guide: Configure Hyperlink to PM Forms


Step 1: Create a New Story Report

  1. Go to Report Center > Create > Story

  2. Choose Optimized Design Experience
  3. Click Create

Step 2: Select the Data Connection

  1. In the popup, choose:

    • SAP Live Connection

    • Select SAPSFSFREP
  2. Click OK


Step 3: Use Query Designer

  1. In Query Designer, From Available Schemas:

    • Expand the schema Performance Management

    • Select a Performance form template
  2. Drag towards the left to add Form Template and Form, then select fields like Document ID and Form Template Name or other relevant fields in your report.

  3. Important: Ensure Document ID is added as a Dimension

    • Click the Column Overview icon

    • Confirm it appears under Dimension, not Measure, as shown in the snapshot below.
    • Click on Preview Query, verify sample data output, and click Finish so the system navigates you to Story Designer.

Step 4: Add a Table to the Story

  1. In the Story Designer, from the menu bar or the left pane, add a Table Widget.

  2. From the Builder Panel, under Table Structure, Choose Cross TabIf the Builder panel is not visible, select the right side panel from Menu bar.
  3. From the Builder Panel again, add Dimensions: Document ID, Form Template Name.

Step 5: Add Hyperlink to Document ID

  1. Click on the Document ID column, click the 3-dot (More Actions) menu on the right.

  2. Click + Add > Hyperlink

Configure the hyperlink:

Pro Tip: Copy the domain directly from your logged-in browser tab. Ensure the hyperlink begins with https://

  • Expand IN USE

  • Select Document ID (don’t type manually)
  • Check Open in new tab
  • Ensure the URL configuration appears as shown in snapshot below
  • Click Done

Step 6: Enable the Hyperlinks in the Table

  1. Click the top left of the table widget

  2. Choose Navigate to External URL
  3. Click to enable “Show Hyperlinks in Table”

Now, each Document ID will be a clickable link that opens the employee’s PM form in Print Preview mode.


You're Done!

With just a few simple steps, you've enabled seamless, direct access to Performance forms within Stories, enhancing usability, speeding up reviews, and reducing admin overhead.

This enhancement is a big win for HR teams, managers, and power users who rely on Performance data for decision-making.


Final Tips

  • Test the hyperlink in View mode to ensure it's working as expected

  • You can also create filters or add employee-specific info to personalize the report
