SAP SuccessFactors Learning isn't just training anymore - it's how modern workplaces grow. And SAP SuccessFactors Learning? It's getting a serious upgrade to match. The 1H 2025 release delivers thoughtful enhancements that are both practical and visionary—offering opportunities for administrators, developers, and L&D professionals to create smarter, more personalized learning ecosystems.

⚠️Note: Some upgrades are not yet enabled, even in DC 68 demo instances. For this reason, certain images have been sourced from SAP documentation, and proper credits have been included for all screenshots/images.

1. Generative AI Meets Learning: Image Creation Made Easy

Feature: AI-Assisted Image Generation
Why it matters: Visual content creation just got a major upgrade.

You can now generate custom images using generative AI directly within Learning Administration. Whether you're designing banners, course thumbnails, or custom cards, this tool allows you to type a short description and generate high-quality images in seconds.

Setup: Requires an AI Units license and enabling of AI Services Admin tools.
Use it when: You want to add polished visuals to learning programs but lack in-house design resources.

2. Smarter Skill Tagging at Scale

Feature: AI-Assisted Skill Inference for Learning Programs
Why it matters: Say goodbye to manual skill mapping.

This update builds on the existing skill inference for items by allowing bulk skill association for learning programs. Import your program data and let the AI handle the rest—identifying and mapping skills directly from program descriptions.

Reporting Enhanced: You can now track “Skills Added By” and “Skills Last Updated On” in Story reports.
Pro Tip: Combine this with Talent Intelligence Hub for powerful, personalized development paths

⚠️ Note:

  • For validated (vSaaS) customers, the option will be available in their validated instances with the 2H 2025 release.
  • Please ensure Integration between Learning and SAP SuccessFactors Platform is sealed
  • Please Ensure that you have your SAP SuccessFactors Platform and LMS available within the same tenant.
  • Also Ensure that you've upgraded to Talent Intelligence Hub and the integration between LMS & Talent Intelligence Hub is completed

3. Download Learning History—Anytime, Anywhere

Feature: Learning History PDF Export
Why it matters: Learners now have easy access to proof of their achievements.

Users can download their entire learning history as a PDF directly from the Learning History page, making it easier for compliance, personal tracking, or sharing with external stakeholders.

⚠️Note: This functionality is only available to learners—not managers or proxies.

4. Manager-Friendly Overdue Training Reminders

Feature: Editable Overdue Training Notifications
Why it matters: Based on the Customer Influence Idea

Managers can now personalize the subject and body of overdue training reminders. It’s a small but impactful way to align messaging with team culture and tone.

Permissions: “Manager Reminders” must be granted via Role Management.

5. Enhanced Proxy Access to New Learning Experience

Feature: Updated Proxy Redirection
Why it matters: Based on the Customer Influence Idea

Launching a proxy session now takes you to the new Learning home page (if enabled), making it easier to troubleshoot and replicate user issues accurately.

User Impact: Streamlined support and improved admin-user alignment.

6. Real-Time Search Refresh

Feature: Near Real-Time Updates in Enhanced Search
Why it matters: Learners always see the most updated content.

Changes to courses, thumbnails, or metadata now reflect in enhanced search results within minutes—great news for fast-paced learning environments.

Metrics-driven teams: Use this to ensure catalogs reflect the latest learning paths and adjustments.

7. New Browse Library Experience

Feature: Dual-Mode Browsing (By Category or All)
Why it matters: Learner autonomy is growing.

The updated Browse Library feature on the new home page allows users to browse by category or explore all available activities—no search term needed.

Config Tip: Tweak the enableBrowseLibrary setting to show or hide category filters. System Administration > Configuration > System Configuration > LIBRARY. When set to true, a dropdown is displayed with two options: Browse by Category and Browse All.

8. Verified Email Domain Sync—Now Automated

Feature: Automatic Sync for Verified Email Domains
Why it matters: Clean data = fewer delivery issues.

This job now runs daily by default and includes new warnings for unverified domains, helping admins ensure consistent, trusted email communications.

9. Custom Cards & Pages: Filter, Expire, and Fine-Tune

Feature: Enhancements to Custom Content Tools
Why it matters: More control, less clutter.

Admins can now filter custom cards and banners by audience and time period. Expired cards are clearly marked, reducing confusion and improving UX.

@nageshpolu :

As a Learning Administrator, we are currently unable to update the Line Manager / Supervisor field on user records in the Learning Admin page. After the H1 2025 release, this field appears to be greyed out and is no longer editable.

Please advise if this is a change introduced with the latest update, or if there is a configuration or permission setting we need to adjust in order to re-enable editing of this field.

Thanks,

Panikar

It's really disappointing that SAP have still not addressed the fact that it takes hours/days for single items to show in the "Enhanced Search".

Proxy in ILX only works if the user you're proxying as is toggled into the new ILX - because of the gaps and the inconsistent library timing we are still not able to commit to turning off legacy. that makes the proxy feature still not great as you can't pick which view you see.

Hello Nagesh,

I am unable to see these updates currently in the What's New Viewer, would like to know the reason why.
