Configurations :
Step 1 : Enable the iminfo HRIS Element from the Manage Business Configuration
Step 2 : Create a Picklist with the Social Account names you require and assign it to the field Domain
Step 3 : Create a onchange rule with Base Object as Social Accounts Information Model (Based on the Label , The Base Object Name may Vary) and assign it to the domain field
Step 4 : Now grant the necessary permissions under Manage Permission Roles to access the Social Accounts Information
Step 5 : Now go to the People Profile of the Employee and maintain the Details under Contact Information Social Accounts Information Block
Once you select the domain as Whatsapp , The Rule will be triggered and the URL will be set as https://wa.me (for whatsapp) and the number is to be maintained in the Username field without the + symbol and country code is mandatory. For example if the number belongs to India , it should be filled as 91123456789 where the 91 denotes the country code.
Step 6 : Click on the value maintained against the Whatsapp field and it will redirect to the whatsapp page where chat can be initiated as below.By Default , the link will be opened in the same page , you can right click and open the link in a new tab if you want it to be opened in a new page.
Click on continue to chat and you can use Whatsapp web if the Whatsapp Desktop Application is not installed.
This is not limited to Whatsapp and can be extended to other social media accounts like FaceBook and so on.
