Let's dive into the key highlights of the H1 2025 release and explore how these updates can benefit your organization.

1.AI-Assisted Image Generation in Learning

Enablement: Contact Customer Engagement Executive or Account Manager

AI-assisted image generation is transforming learning within SAP SuccessFactors (SF) by enhancing visual content creation and making learning materials more engaging and personalized. 

Administrators can generate custom images for course thumbnails, banners, and learning cards by simply typing a description. This feature allows for the quick creation of high-quality visuals without needing in-house design resources to modify existing items, programs, and curricula.

When you select Generate Image, a widget opens with a text box where you can enter up to 180 characters to describe the image. After entering the description, you can choose Generate to see a preview of the generated image. This process may take a minimum of 15 seconds or extend beyond two minutes, depending on the complexity of the image description.

  • You've purchased the AI unit’s license. For more information about AI units license, please contact your Account Executive.
  • Enable the AI Services Administration Assisted Image Generation setting in Admin Center.

Benefits:

  • Efficiently generate safe and relevant AI Images that can be directly applied in add/edit flows or download it for later.
  • Available for items, program, curriculum, custom cards and banners.

2.AI-Assisted Skills Inference for Programs Through Import

AI-assisted skills inference for programs through import is a powerful feature that helps organizations identify and map relevant skills from various data sources.

Enablement: Contact Customer Engagement Executive or Account Manager

In addition to AI-assisted skills inference for learning items, you can now bulk-associate skills with multiple learning programs through import. Use AI capabilities to extract skills from program descriptions, align the skills with TIH attribute library and associate with learning programs.

Configuration Requirements

  • You've purchased the AI unit's license. For more information about AI units license, please contact your Account Executive.
  • Enable Assisted Skills Inference for Learning in the Learning section of the AI Service Administration page.

Benefits:

  • Skills interface for programs in bulk
  • Enables customers to use skills they’ve configured in Talent Intelligence Hub within Learning
  • Enhance admin productivity by removing the need to manually identify skills

3.Auto-Update Attribute Ratings for Open Content Network Items Using a property

This feature allows for the automatic updating of attribute ratings for Open Content Network (OCN) items using a specified property. This ensures that the ratings are always current and accurately reflect the quality and relevance of the content

Configuration Requirements

  • Enable the auto-update feature in the Learning Administration settings.
  • Specify the property that will be used to update the attribute ratings automatically

Benefits:

  • Empowers administrators to effectively maintain the configuration in bulk
  • Ensures that completing an OCN item automatically updates its associated attributes in Growth Portfolio                

4.Automatic Process for Verified Email Domain Synchronization

Enablement: Automatically on

This feature automates the synchronization of verified email domains between the SAP SuccessFactors Platform and the Learning Management System (LMS). This ensures that email communications are sent from trusted and verified domains, reducing the risk of delivery issues

Configuration Requirements:

1.You have the Enable Email Domain Validation enabled from Learning Administration >System      Administration >Configuration >Global Application Settings >Mail

2.Navigate to Learning Administration:

Go to System Administration  Automatic Processes  Verified Email Domain Synchronization

3.Schedule the Process:

  • Select the Schedule this Process checkbox.
  • Set the frequency (daily, weekly, etc.) and specify the time of day for the synchronization

Benefit:

  • This feature enables you to monitor synchronization jobs and identify issues with email domain synchronization between SAP SuccessFactors Platform and Learning.

5. Changes to Permission for Overdue Training Reminders

Enablement: Automatically On

The H1 2025 release includes updates to the permissions for overdue training reminders. These changes aim to improve the management and customization of reminder notifications for overdue training items

To send overdue training reminders from the Team View page or the new Learning home page, you need the new permission, Manager Reminders. SAP added this for all users who are currently managers and have the Access Team's Learning and Access Direct Report permissions.

  • Allows administrators to control which users can trigger reminders
  • Streamline manager notifications with Manager Reminders Notifications
  • Ensure manager can remind overdue subordinates to finish their pending assignment

6.Configuration to Support Unload Browser Events for Online Content

Enablement: Automatically on

This feature allows the LMS to support unload browser events, which can help track when users navigate away from online content. This ensures that learning progress is accurately recorded and helps prevent data loss

SAP delivered the enableContentUnloadEventUsage configuration. This configuration extends temporary support for unload browser events beyond the initial vendor deprecation date.

Configuration Requirements

The enableContentUnloadEventUsage configuration is enabled by default (System Administration >ConfigurationSystem Configuration >LMS_ADMIN). This setting will be removed in a future release to align with Google’s plan to deprecate support across all websites in 2025. 

7.Download Learning History to PDF File

Enablement: Automatically On

This feature allows users to download their learning history as a PDF file. This provides a convenient way to keep a record of completed courses and training programs

As a learner, you can now use the Learning History page to download all your completed learning activities in a PDF file.

Configuration requirements:

Role-Based Permission Prerequisites

  • You have Access Reports and Run User Learning History Report permissions.
  • You have the Access Learning History permission.

Benefits:

  • Streamlines the export process by providing direct access to all of user’s learning history in a PDF format
  • Saves time by eliminating the need to generate separate reports

8.Editable Overdue Training Reminders

Enablement: Automatically on

Manager can preview and edit the email messages before sending

Configuration Requirements:

The new Learning home page is enabled.

Role-Based Permission Prerequisites

To send overdue training reminders from the Team View page you need the new permission, Manager Reminders. You can access the permission from System Administration >Security> Role Management.

Benefits

  • This feature to give our customers more control over their overdue training reminders
  • Allow managers to preview and edit individual reminders content before sending
  • Provide managers with the option to customize subject lines and message body

9.Enhanced Proxy Access to the New Learning Experience

Enablement: Automatically On

This feature enhances proxy access, allowing designated proxies to access the new learning experience on behalf of other users. This ensures that proxies can manage learning activities, view progress, and assist with training needs more effectively

In the previous version, the Launch Proxy action redirected you to the legacy Learning home page, even if the user had the new Learning experience enabled.

Role-Based Permission Prerequisites

You have the Administrator Proxy for Learning permission to launch a proxy session.

Benefits:

  • Admins can troubleshoot issues by proxying to Learner’s new learning Homepage
  • Admin gets information when they are proxy mode and can end proxy mode and land on the user summary page

10. Enhancements to Custom Cards and Custom Pages in Learning Administration

Enablement: Automatically On

The H1 2025 release includes enhancements to custom cards and custom pages in Learning Administration. These updates provide more flexibility and personalization options for administrators to create engaging and informative content

You can filter custom cards by Target Group and Active Period.

An indicator is displayed for expired custom cards to indicate that the cards are inactive and aren't visible to the target users. The date range of an expired card is highlighted, indicating that the active period has ended.

When choosing an image for custom cards (in the Card wizard), the guidelines now include the recommended dimensions of 1024 x 1024 pixels information to help you maintain optimal image resolution

Enhancements on custom pages:

On a custom page, you can filter banners in the Banners section and custom cards in the Sections section by Target Group and Active Period

11.Improved Browse Library Functionality

Enablement: Customer configured

SAP enhanced the Browse Library feature with the ability to browse all learning activities.

Configuration Requirements:

Role-Based Permission Prerequisites

Users need the Library >Access Advanced Library Search permission in their role. You can access the permission from System Administration >Security >Role Management.

Benefits:

  • Enable users to access their Learning library
  • Allow learners to discover all learning without need to enter any keyword
  • Admin can decide to show both browse by category and browse all or only browse all
  • Refine search results with search filters like duration skill, and flagged after selecting browse all

12.Manager Permission to Remove Items in Team View Now Option on User Settings Page

Enablement: Automatically On

The H1 2025 release introduces a new option on the User Settings page that allows managers to remove items from the Team View. This enhancement provides managers with greater control over the learning activities of their team members

Configuration Requirements:

1.System Administration >Security> Role Management > Manage Assignments

2.Navigate to Learning Administration >System Administration> Application Administration >User Settings add three selected options for these settings

  • Items assigned by an Administrator
  • Curricula assigned by an Administrator
  • Programs assigned by an Administrator

Benefits:

  • Empower managers to cleanup duplicate outdated trainings
  • Enable managers to remove manager assignments and employee self-assignments using Manage Assignments workflow (legacy behavior)
  • Allow managers to remove admin assigned learning entities based on configuration.

13.Near Real Time Updates to Learning Entities in Enhanced Search

Enablement: Automatically On

Changes made to learning activity entities and reference entities are now reflected in the enhanced search results in near real time.

Most changes are reflected within 30 minutes, though many updates occur within just a few minutes. Longer update times can be expected in some scenarios, such as when updating curricula thumbnails or making bulk changes that affect more than ten entities. The duration of an update also depends on the number of changes already in progress.

Benefits:

  • Helps ensure that learners have access to the most current learning content and filter options when searching their libraries

Note: To allow time for testing, this enhancement will have a staggered release to Preview and Production, based on Data Center

14.New Team View Reporting Hierarchy

Enablement: Automatically on

Simplified and clean experience for manager to navigating through team hierarchy

SAP added the ability for managers to see team hierarchies on the Team View page. SAP replaced the flat team view where all direct and indirect reports were listed on one level with the updated view placing a selectable icon that expands the hierarchy to show direct reports.

Previously the list of team members was organized in a flat structure showing all direct and indirect reports

Configuration Requirements

  • The new Learning home page is enabled.
  • The System Administration >Configuration >System Configuration >LMS_ADMIN >reportingLevelsToDisplay configuration setting must be set as follows:
    • If set to 0, the user can see all direct and indirect subordinates. This is the default value.
    • If set to 1, the user can see their direct reports only, which are one level down the reporting hierarchy.
    • If set to 2 or more, the user can see that number of levels down the reporting hierarchy.

Benefits:

  • Establish clear distinction between direct and indirect employees
  • Monitor learning progress of entire team
  • Effectively manage team assignments and resolve learning blockers

15.Option to Use Application Notification Email for Overdue Training Reminders

SAP added the option to use the Application Notification User Email for manager email notifications. When this option is selected, overdue training reminders will not be sent to the recipient using the manager's email but will use the Application Notification User Email instead.

Enablement: Automatically on

Configuration Requirements

The Application Notification User Email is not blank and Enable email is Enabled.

  • This feature to make sure our customer's email delivery procedures for email notifications are configurable to their standards.

16 Optional Curricula Assignments Available in the New Learning Experience

As learners, you can access optional assignments and classes from your assigned curricula and sub-curricula directly from the new Learning home page.

Configuration Requirements

  • The new Learning home page is enabled.
  • You've created an assignment type as not required on the Assignment Types page and applied it for the content of a curriculum from Curricula >Content >Manage ContentAssignment Type.

17.Optional Surveys Available in the New Learning Experience

Enablement: Automatically On

As learners, you can now launch optional surveys directly from the new Learning home page to provide feedback on your completed training. Your feedback helps enhance and improve the learning content.

As administrators, you can now track the number of removed surveys in the Removed column, along with assigned and completed surveys, when reviewing survey statistics from Content >SurveyItem Usage.

Configuration Requirements

  • The new Learning home page is enabled.
  • You have an item where:
    • a course feedback survey is assigned with the Required for Item Completion check box disabled.
    • a follow-up survey is assigned.

Benefits:

  • Optional surveys are now available in the new learning experience (Course feedback +Follow-up)
  • Learners can remove surveys (managers can remove follow-up surveys) depending on the survey configuration
  • Survey notification now directly takes the learners to the specific survey
  • Statics for “Removed” surveys now maintained under surveys> Item usage

18.Use the AI Services Administration Page to Enable AI-Assisted Skill Features for Learning

You can now use the AI Services Administration page to enable AI-assisted skill features, including Assisted Skills Inference for Learning and Assisted Skills Association with Open Content Network Items.16. Configuration Requirements

  • You've purchased the AI unit’s license. For more information about AI units license, please contact your Account Executive.
  • Ensure the integration between Learning and SAP SuccessFactors Platform is sealed.
  • Ensure that you've upgraded to Talent Intelligence Hub and the integration between Learning and Talent Intelligence Hub is completed.
  • Ensure that you have your SAP SuccessFactors Platform and Learning available within the same tenant.

Benefits:

  • Allows you manage all AI-assisted skills features from single centralized page in Admin Centre
