SAP’s H2 2025 SuccessFactors release isn’t chasing headlines, it’s about foundation. After the wave of Joule and AI announcements earlier this year, this release focuses on what truly matters for customers and partners: consistency, data quality, and modernization.
What this really means is that SAP is tightening every bolt, from the redesigned People Profile to the smallest validation rule - to make sure SuccessFactors can handle the next phase of intelligent, connected HXM.

Key Themes in the 2H 2025 Release
1️⃣ Full Profile redesign everywhere
The editing and history experiences in the latest People Profile have been completely reimagined. Dependents, contact data, and emergency information now follow the same modern pattern - intuitive, streamlined, and consistent.
2️⃣ Cleaner data and smarter rules
Across Employee Central, Time, and Benefits, SAP introduced tighter validations, better error handling, and enhanced rule contexts. This ensures data accuracy and consistency across modules.
3️⃣ Streamlined employment lifecycle
From hire to rehire, from job changes to terminations, the end-to-end employment process is smoother, more automated, and more predictable.
4️⃣ Extensibility-first mindset
The new Extensibility Wizard on SAP BTP is now generally available, simplifying in-app and side-by-side extensions - a key step toward modular innovation.
5️⃣ Legacy cleanup continues
SAP continues to retire older frameworks, including the legacy People Profile, YouCalc workflows, classic accrual methods, and outdated SOAP APIs.
Let’s start with my favorite, the heart of the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite.

Employee Central (EC) continues to mature with emphasis on data visibility, permissions, and accuracy.

Onboarding

- Valid to
- Valid from
- Retaining New Hire Personal Information During Automatic Restart of Onboarding Process.
These refinements make the Onboarding experience far less error-prone and fully aligned with the new People Profile design.
Recruiting
Recruiting receives a language and layout overhaul for usability and consistency.

- .Applicant Filtering by Assessment Score and Recommendation.
- Simplified button labels such as Add Competencies, Close, Add to Talent Pool.
- Browser tab titles and menu structures standardized across Job Requisition and Applicant Management pages.
- Breadcrumb navigation added for candidates in the new Candidate Experience.
- Automatic Transfer of Recruiting Skills to Growth Portfolio 💪
- Only skill names are transferred to the Growth Portfolio. Proficiency levels must be updated manually.
- Clearer menu grouping — Manage Requisition, Manage Job Postings, Manage Applicants.
- Candidate Profile Extension in the Redesigned Applicant Management Tool
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) using Identity Authentication Service (IAS) for Agency Users.
Small changes, yes — but they bring a big impact in how recruiters and candidates experience the hiring process. The real story, though, is what’s happening behind the scenes: SAP’s acquisition of SmartRecruiters.
This move signals a clear intent to strengthen SuccessFactors’ end-to-end recruiting capabilities, especially around AI-driven sourcing, CRM-style candidate nurturing, and intelligent matching. Over time, expect deeper integration between SmartRecruiters’ talent acquisition engine and SuccessFactors Recruiting 😉, blurring the lines between applicant tracking and experience management.
In short, it’s a quiet update with major strategic depth - and definitely one to keep a close eye on.
Learning
Learning continues its modernization path with focus on data integrity and AI-aligned skill handling.

- Numeric-only validation for cost and hour fields in External Learning Requests.
- Skill Standardization via SAP Business AI : supports both standardized and alternate skill names in the taxonomy.

These changes improve both the learner experience and data alignment for AI-based recommendations.
Time Management & Tracking
Time Management becomes even more compliance-ready and automated.

Each of these refinements increases transparency and reliability in time processing.
People Profile & Mobile Experience
The People Profile transformation continues at full speed.

- New Editing UI and History UI for Full Profile.

- Save profile contacts directly to phone contacts.
- Performance forms link to latest profile cards.
- Enhanced proxy access security.
The user experience is now unified across desktop and mobile — a key prerequisite for AI-driven contextual insights.
Platform, Extensibility & Identity
Platform capabilities continue to expand quietly but significantly.

- Job Profile Builder and Talent Intelligence Hub : Available by Default on New Tenants. 💪
- MFA for critical transactions : optional multi-factor verification for sensitive actions.
- Identity & Access Management (RBP) : collapsible search, cleaner labels, improved tooltips.
- Instance Refresh Tool : new Check Quota option, reduced scheduling window to 3 months.

While this release is primarily functional, the AI foundation is unmistakable.

- Strengthened data validations and consistent rule contexts ensure Joule consumes clean data.
- Full Profile redesign supports contextual, skill-aware insights for AI assistants.
- Extensibility Wizard simplifies integration of Joule skills and AI extensions.

Final Take
If the 1H 2025 release was about launching Joule and introducing new AI ideas, 2H 2025 is about making the system ready for them.
UI modernization, better validation, and deprecation cleanup might not sound glamorous, but they decide how well your environment supports AI and analytics tomorrow.
- Move fully to the latest People Profile.
- Review and clean up inactive employment and dependent data.
- Validate and update Quick Actions and workflows.
- Plan for deprecations before 2026.
- Start adopting the BTP Extensibility Wizard for future extensions.
2H 2025 is a foundation release — solid, stable, and designed to make your system Joule-ready by default.
Take time to explore these features in your preview environment, adjust configurations as needed, and collaborate with your recruiting teams to ensure a smooth rollout and optimal impact.

For this release, I tried something different. Instead of writing separate blogs for each module, I focused on the most meaningful and interesting upgrades — the ones that actually matter. I’d love to hear what you think. Should I stick with this format or go back to module-wise blogs? If you enjoyed it, a kudo would mean a lot.
