Deep Link in Story Reports for Performance Forms

The enhancements in the People Analytics module for the first half of 2025 are highly valuable. One notable improvement is the direct linking of Performance Management Forms through story reports. I recently implemented this feature for one of our clients, who expressed great satisfaction with its integration into their story reports. This enhancement was highly anticipated by HR administrators, managers, and HR business partners within organizations.

Allow me to outline the advantages of this enhancement:

1. This enhancement addresses major functional gap in story tool compared to tiles and dashboard. This link was only possible in Tiles reports earlier. Keeping in mind that tiles will be deprecated in future time, this enhancement is the need of the hour
2. With this enhancement, you can access the performance form data without being a part of route map process
3. Report consumers like HR admins, HRBP and managers can view ratings, comments, and more details streamlining performance reviews from the report.
4. There is no need of multiple clicks/opening multiple tabs to navigate to performance form of employees for data validation or review purpose, you can directly open form via deep link
5.  You can access performance form details like ratings, comments etc. even without selecting those details in the report table

Now I would like to share the steps of configuring this deep link in story reports for quick reference:

1.Create a data source in story report including performance forms tables and save it

2.Navigate to report designer and add a cross-tab table widget

3.Add rows and columns of table as per requirement

4.Make sure you add Document ID as rows in table

5.Cick on 3 dot menu (More Actions) -> Click on  ->Click on 

6.Select External URL from Link To drop down

7.Copy the domain directly from your logged-in browser tab and ensure the hyperlink begins with https://<Your_SuccessFactors_ Instance_domain>/sf/printPreviewPMForm?fDataId=Document ID

Select the checkbox for opening form in a new tab

Click on  button on bottom right.

8. Go to table widget header and click on Navigate to External URL on table details and select Show Hyperlinks in Table   

9.Document ID shows links to performance form in table now

10. In order to test a link, click on Document ID. A new tab should open showing performance form of employee in print preview mode

 Now, you have learnt how to add deep link of Document ID in story report. Please also note the below prerequisites for successful utilization of this enhancement:

1. Make sure Document ID added as a dimension in table
2. Table type should be cross domain
3. You should have Create Story permission
4. You should have the User->Performance->Data Access: Story permission
5. Ensure you add the following deep link as the hyperlink to the document ID for viewing the Performance Management Form data:

     /sf/printPreviewPMForm?fDataId=[Document ID]

     6.Table Details should be visible else you won’t be able to see Navigate to External URL and click on Show Hyperlinks in Table
