Which Currency Should Be Used for Uploading Cost and Budget in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition?

Hello SAP Community,

I am working in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and have a question regarding cost and budget uploads for projects with Revenue.

When uploading planned costs and budgets via the "Import Financial Plan Data" app, I’m unsure whether I should:

  • Use the project currency defined during project creation, or
  • Upload the data in the global currency (e.g., CHF), which is set as the group currency.

Could anyone clarify:

  1. Is it mandatory to upload costs and budgets in the global currency, or can the project currency be used?
  2. If only the global currency is accepted, how is currency conversion handled for reporting in the project currency?
  3. Are there any best practices for ensuring consistency in financial reporting and project tracking across multiple currencies?

Any insights or suggestions from your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your support. 😊

Dear,

you can add more fields and currency types in the excel template downloaded from Import Financial Plan Data, as mentioned in the previous post. so you can add transaction currency and company code currency etc.

in Maintain Category for Planning configurationExchange Rate Type is can maintained.

To "ensure consistency in financial reporting and project tracking across multiple currencies" , the setting should be tied back to Define Currency Settings for Ledgers and Company Codes configuration

Regards,
