What is the use of the "Source Connector" in SAP GRC

Hello Experts,

What is the use of the "Source Connector" field in SAP GRC in the IMG Node Maintain Connectors and Connection Types > Define Connectors?

Based on SAP Note 2234584 and this link, I understand that this field is not relevant for GRC AC, but is used in GRC PC. Could someone point to documentation on what purpose this field is used for in PC?
