What is cube designer in SAP financial consolidation?

Hi,

I am planning to implement SAP financial consolidation10.1 and want to figure out which UI we should adapt, and then I have a question.

What is the difference between cube designer and other clients?

My understanding is

･FC client (GUI)

･Internet Browser (Web)

･FC excel link (Excel)

･Cube designer (？)

Only the architecture of cube designer seems different.

Would be very glad if someone cloud help me.

Hi Yudai

The Cube Designer is a component to create OLAP cubes.

FC uses purely relational DB (SQL, Oracle etc.) which prevents it from analyzing it with OLAP tools. With Cube Designer you can define your own cubes (i.e. what dimensions to use, what data etc.) and then create an OLAP cube - these can be MS Analysis Server, BW cubes or HANA views.

You can then use the EPM add-in to create reports on these cubes.
