Hello Experts,
Could you please help us in understanding the use cases & use of the functionality for Split/Transfer/Merge Entitlement in SAP Entitlement Management System.
Thanks,
Vinay.
Hi Vinay,
please see explaination below:
1. Split Entitlement:
Splitting entitlements is used when you need to divide one entitlement into multiple entitlements with different quantities, validity periods. This functionality is helpful in cases such as:
- A customer wants to allocate a part of their purchased entitlement to another department or subsidiary.
- The customer wants to split the entitlement based on different usage periods or quantities.
To split an entitlement, you create new entitlements with the desired attributes and reduce the original entitlement's quantity accordingly.
2. Transfer Entitlement:
Transferring entitlements allows you to move the complete or part ownership or usage rights of an entitlement from one customer to another. This can be useful in situations like:
- A customer sells or transfers their rights to another party.
- The customer wants to consolidate their entitlements under a single account after a merger or acquisition.
To transfer an entitlement, you change the "Cutomer" or "Distributor" or "3D party" in the system.
Hint: As discusssed this Wendenesday, the transfer is the recommend way for your case.
3. Merge Entitlement:
Merging entitlements is used when you need to consolidate multiple entitlements into a single entitlement. This can be helpful in cases such as:
- A customer wants to combine several small entitlements into one for easier management.
- The customer has acquired another company and needs to merge entitlements to create a unified entitlement.
