Transporting BPC environment & roles

Hi,

We are implementing BPC 10.0 in our landscape on top of the existing Netweaver BI system. Currently BPC has  been configured in the development system and the BPC teams are working on it. I've few questions about how do we transport the BPC contents from one development system to quality & production.

1) How do we transport the BPC environments in web console from one system to the another?

2) Do we need to transport all the BPC environments?

3) When they create profiles in BPC web console, it automatically generates roles in SAP. If we transport the BPC environment, will it automatically transport the roles also?

4) We have CUA in our landscape. Is it possible to assign the roles/teams/profiles from SAP instead of doing it from web console?

Please help on the above questions.

Thanks Gersh for the KBA, it's very helpful. I have below questions:-

1) If transporting the environment, will it transports the related roles as well? i.e. are the roles associated with the environment are captured in the transport automatically?

2) After transporting the environment, hope we dont have to generate the roles again from the BPC web console for different profiles?

1) You can transport the whole Environment in one transport or split it in multiple transports. I.e. you can transport Authorization with Models or separately.

2) You can choose either to transport all authorizations (not Roles) or some of them. Roles will be generated automatically in the target box. There is one manual step you have to do if you have CUA.

Thanks Gersh for the clarification. If we transport the authorization, will the generated role name remain same in the transported environment? We need the same role name in Dev, QA & Prod to keep them consistent in all the systems.

Yes, if that name is not taken yet Transport will try to assign same name. If it's taken by another Role, then new Role name will be assigned.

And I hope you are on SP05 or higher.

Our version is SP08 (SAPK-80109INCPMBPC). So hoping it will work fine.
